For the many reasons that people posted on this thread, including Zandrae’s very well-thought out criticism, this is just not a good idea.
Hopefully Blizzard doesn’t implement it.

Pure speculation on both of our parts, but wow forums are different from others and has its own system. It’ll require working on these things regardless. And yes, I’m aware how other forums work, I’ve posted this multiple times, as I post on there too.
We can achieve everything others had if its problematic without requiring battle tag names. It’d prefer to keep our char-identity system here. Other stuff can be easily cleaned up if Blizzard really wanted to.

I’m still not sure that having to change the toon you post on to deter harassments because you would have to ignore all their alts separately is somehow better than being able to ignore that one person 1 time and never having to see their crap again.

What if I told you that harassment can happen even if you have a person’s forum toon on ignore?
Well yeah because they can 50 per account for one thing. And if it’s happening to you outside the forums then a change on the forum isn’t likely to affect that one way or the other.
It went over your head to some degree.
Let’s try again: What if I told you that harassment can occur without the harasser posting at all on any toon?
If harassment is happening off the forums, and I change toons, the harasser may not recognize the new toon or notice it for a while because they can not click the profile or use the search function to find posts anymore.
You realize that part of this request is a one time battle.net name change for free…

Support, also i don’t even think you need to add the actual btag numbers to the identifier. If multiple people have the btag “dark knight” just give them 1-2-3-4 etc as they connect to the forums
Forums are also a tiny part of the playerbase so its not like half the people in a thread would be “dark knight1” human female, “dark knight2” worgen male etc
Or just randomize the numbers as a one time thing for forum display only to appease the paranoid people that are scared of getting a friend request once a year
You realize that that won’t make a difference unless all retroactive posts are not updated.
Why on earth should someone have to change their battletag to avoid harassment?

I have no idea what you’re talking about.
First off stop assuming stupidity when you give vague open-ended questions and don’t like the response. Second without an example of the type of harassments you mean it would be hard for anyone to understand the problem.
If it’s not on the forum I’m guessing in game then? So again ignore/block would be a start with proper reporting. Sure I guess just dropping off that toon and playing another one could work but again it’s letting them control the action. And I’m still not seeing how going from X toon to Y toon to hide your identity would make things easier over now your are just Zandrae#1234 and once you block them on that toon you can continue along your way playing on whatever toon you want.

Will the forums only be viewable when logged in and only if you have an active account?

Not all harassment happens on the forums or in game. For example, way back in the day, harassment on some servers used to come from places like Tumblr.
Are you saying names ending in -a are female exclusive and guys aren’t allowed to have names that end in a? My friend misha is offended if so
