Cullen is quite the catch, he’s sexy, he’s smart, he’s way buff and he’s got that darker kind of emo like thing going on and it’s like oh yes please!!!
Stealing it would be literally taking it from you, and only having it for the Alliance. But in this case it was about having a similar model. Many suggestions were made about features that would be unique among the two races, but Hordies constantly dismiss them as ‘‘not distinctive enough’’.
And there is no valid proof that it did not come from the threads. This decision may very well have come from some of those threads, which could have lead to that decision for the swap as a solution. In fact, seeing how blue eyes and light skin colors were granted to both Alliance and Horde elves, it is very likely that it did. One of the directors did state his aknowledgement of a 3rd race in an interview, the High elves. I do not recall exactly what he said, but it was not about adding them as a separate race, but including some of their features to the existing elves in game.
Yea, it’s hard not to get taken in by him. He’s a guy with a past that spans the whole series, has issues most can understand and/or relate to on some level, and depending on how you interact with him, you can have a real impact on his development.
A lot of us are the same people talking though, which has been the case in all of these threads.
Saying that you are giving High Elven assets is a whole different ballgame from giving actual High Elves. Is this really the hill you want to die on?
That’s what was said. It makes sense, judging from how Void elves were given normal skin colors. And I’m fine with it. I know people will not believe me, but I’m not actually one of those hardcore high elf fans who fought for years in the forums.
I was just really annoyed when they announced skins and eye colors and they did not add any hair stuff at all! The hair are the jewel on one’s head, they cannot have expected that there would be completely no reactions if they gave us absolutely no new hair customizations and called it ‘‘done’’. Before that, I was actually quite content with Void elves. But I consider the hair to be the most important asset on one’s character, so as you understand it really bothered me personally.
I do not want high elven customizations for the sake of playing the High elf fantasy, I could not care less personally what kind of fantasy people want to play with, I just wanted some new hairstyles and light hair colors added so I could have some variety rather than just be limited to blue and purple hair.
So if you were fine before with the current hair line up you’re no less off for what’s currently in game then because it’s the same hair you just said you were always fine with. I get wanting more options to the extent of being within the Void theme, but I don’t get how if you were completely fine with VE options they are now unacceptable.
And they can continue to differentiate with the last remaining BE visual distinction via hair, and assuming Blizzard wants to add more hair hopefully it will be more Void aspect to that regard.
I just can’t see 100% of a race that wasn’t intended to be neutral from the get go being on both sides because then not only are Horde players shafted with Nightborne that don’t even look like the NPC’s or Night Elves but then we’d lose a Core Race and gain nothing in return. I mean if you can’t see why people are so against it, I can’t help you.
Nightborne should be prioritized in customization. They have the potential to look really nice. I really like their posture, ear jewelry and most of their hairstyles. The major issue for me is on their faces, they look grumpy and old. That needs big focus by the art team to fix, and they just need a lot more options. More faces, more hairstyles, skin colors, glowing limbs, maybe runic markings on their hair? They need to shine with youth, reflecting the revitalization and refreshness granted by the Arcan’Dor when it was restored. And you would not lose your core race. You can be given more in return, and Void elves will be given more Voidy stuff for the majority, but also 2 light hair colors for some variety simply because it can get incredibly tiring to have a choice of practically just blue and purple hair colors in varying shades. Sod that.
When Horde players are actually given something in return, I’ll agree with you, so far we have got nothing in the supposed elf swap area and playble Nightborne or Horde Night Elves are one of the least played races due to the current player model and extremely awful customizations.
Also if you don’t want the haircolors you have feel free to start a thread about that you want to give them away to someone else, I told you in your own thread previously my hair is colored the maroon color in real life so I’ll happily take it from you.
First off, blonde hair does not a racial identity make. Multiple races on both factions have blonde hair, so it’s not “faction exclusivity” by any means, nor are any of the natural colors.

As for Blood Elves themselves, while they did get the short end of the stick, they are still much better off than Void Elves are statistically, so to claim the reverse just doesn’t hold true.
That doesn’t mean there’s no room for improvement for Blood Elves. They have room for multiple second themes, including undead and Felblood variants.
I also don’t have any problem with Blood Elves or Nightborne using hair or skin assets from their Alliance counterparts, as the Nightborne need anything they can get and Void Elf hairstyles and colors would look good on a Blood Elf.
The maroon is actually my favorite from the selection but that doesn’t mean ofc that I have a variety of choice. There’re 3 blues, 2 blue-greys, a purple and the maroon.
I’m sorry for the situation with the Nightborne. I am sure they will pick up on it, hopefully very soon. Fingers crossed that Blizzcon will provide some info on Allied Race customization, especially the Legion ones such as Nightborne, LFD, HMT and Void elves.
I have this bookmarked because it was just such a good explanation for when people try to do the “well [insert race that isn’t BE] have natural hair so VEs should have it too” type arguments. We aren’t talking about other races when it comes Blood Elves having always had the theme of normal Elf, which continued concessions to give VEs options that allow them to replicate that theme does infringe on.
Night Elves can already have blue eyes, blonde/red hair, fair skin, and shorter ears.
Nightborne can even have platinum Blonde hair.
Blood Elves aren’t they only elf race with natural hair tones anymore, while Void Elves are the odd one out.
In terms of Thalassian Elves they aren’t the odd ones out that is their theme vs the BE theme.
Why would we compare NEs and VEs to that end? Are Night Elves the parent race of Void Elves on the opposite faction whose main theme is being infringed on?
Nothing Night Elves have is natural to things like humans and Blood Elves.
Our orange is meant to represent AUTUMN. And we’ve always had a range of skintones, purple to bright pinks even a few blues.
I would so love to have pink skintones on my Nightborne, same with the pink haircolors but I’m not going to try to pirate them unless it’s given to Nightborne then of course I’ll use them.
Blizz finds all this time to make void elves look exactly like blood elves but can’t spare any to make nightborne look better a rare case of alliance bias.
To be fair, the effort required for the skin tone sharing with Void Elves was relatively minimal. Nightborne need so much more than just that. They need model work, plus a slew of options since they have so very little currently. I’m really hoping that Blizzard surprises us with some real major love for the Nightborne.
Obviously it would be preferable for the Nightborne to get a suite of entirely unique assets, but I think expecting that is unrealistic. At the very least though, I think they really should get most, if not all, of the Night Elf skin tones. I’d even go so far as to say hair colors, hairstyles, and moon themed jewelry too if I’m honest.
We’ll just have to wait and see what Blizz decides to do… and when. I really do hope they hit the Nightborne with their pass sooner rather than later though.
