That kind of happens when you have units that have all the same model and you want to have one stand out, it’s a common thing when it comes to character design.
In this case she was a literal copy past of Sylvanus who with some edits and recolors. So it was defiantly needed.
Though they are sisters so that bugs me less then others. (Alexstrasza/Ysera)

Clearly, while they decided to paint half of Alleria’s face blue because she had the same model as Sylvanas, it doesn’t look like it was exclusive to her either.
Pretty sure it was on both sides for the Rangers? I think I remember some concept art but that might be a misremember.
Hard to tell since they are giving us the perpetual side eye.
I was trying to find the protraits on google images but that’s all I could find, but I do remember a red version of this as well.
It changed based off team colors.
Not only that, but I do remember them being red after the blood elf thing.
Blood Elves didn’t happen in WC2 so I’m not sure what exactly what you are remembering?
Edit: Are you thinking beyond the dark portal? The special Alliance units where red there.
The portraits in WC3 TFT.
Blood/High Elves in WC3 where devoid of markings from what I remember.
Unless there’s a special unit I’m forgetting.
Time to dig up my WC3 books.
I wish I could find the portraits and I haven’t had WC3 TFT installed for a long time, but I’m almost sure that they had those.
I just looked.
The Sorceress unit had extremely pronounced Rouge Eye Makeup was the closest thing I could find.
Also the covers have officially fallen off my WC3 manuals. I feel old.
Looks like Derder has never played Warcraft 2.
Ironic how helfers refuse to acknowledge WC2 and WC3 exist when it’s inconvenient for their narrative.
Thanks. Been leveling other toons. This boi is next.
I literally said they where different in the post you quoted…
And is mocking my name really necessary?
Just wow…
They’re farstrider tattoos.
Both void elves and blood elves should have access to them as well as runic arcane ones.
Void elves should have void based tattoos and blood elves should get light based ones.
Their cultures are way too close time wise for them to not have it that way.
Totally, they’re just here to fight with people, it was clear on their first post.
Here’s a Video I made of a Custom Race of High Elves of Quel’thalas. Enjoy.

I keep saying the tattoos and flavor (void / light (fel) themes) are the best way to keep the “races” distinct across factions, with the absolute base ye olde fashioned high elf being available for both.

I would say that in general I agree.
I do want blizzard to lean hard into the Void aspect for void elves and I’m not that interested in natural hair colors, nor do I see them as needed, but overall a few minor things like farstrider/arcane tattoos should cross over.
The colorations and some specific (Void/Light/Fel) to each side representing how they are different should be unique. I actually keep forgetting to include the Fel part and I have to say I like the idea of Blood Elves, the core race, getting two unique tattoo colorations over the Void elves.
While that wouldn’t balance the issues at least they’d get something.
In the end I really just don’t want to lose the Void in the Void Elves for some repeat of something already more or less on the Horde. (I understand their storylines are different over the years but they are otherwise almost exactly the same thing [Blood/High elves])
I’m in favor of exclusive Void runic tattoos for Void Elves, Starcursed would be the best.
Light and Fel runic tattoos for Blood Elves would also be fitting as it would be a step in the right direction for giving them their second and possibly third themes.
Both races would still share any sort of Arcane colorations as both are renowned for their profiency with the Arcane.
