I doubt it, I’m having flashbacks of the AU Azeroth ideas some HE fans had as a way to both see an Alliance Quel’thalas and the HE AR brought into the Alliance kinda like they did Maghar Orcs… like they’ll always be something.
I thought the skin I’m wearing right now would do this. I still see people asking for them as an AR though. It’s like, you know that’s not going to happen at this point, right?
On both counts, wishful thinking I suppose, even if unlikely.
For people who still want high elves that badly, the easiest and most likely path is to just ask for hair (preferably without throwing shade at everyone who opposes it), and use a macro to shut off Entropic Embrace.
It’s almost funny when you think about it…
HE fans who ignore like all of WC3, and BE story: Blood Elves make no sense Horde! They don’t fit in! They were stolen from the Alliance and written in for the market!
The same HE fans: awe yes AU High Elves the perfect example of a good story that makes sense.
As an AR my fav ideas (before the skin tones being given to VEs) were the Highvale.
Sadly this is what bias does to people.
Same. I always found their plot the most interesting, and closest to what my headcanon was for what high elves were. In retrospect, they were probably the least likely though.
I liked them because they served as a narrative change from the Quel’thalas delusions the SC kind of represents to me, so if they had been an AR that is what I would have supported narratively.
But I agree in retrospect maybe it was never going to happen, but people can RP as one who follows Alleria now.
Exactly. I mean, you can’t really play into the rejecting magic angle, but Alleria is a big Thalassian hero with a lot of pull, so it can still work.
For me it seems pointless because we are already in the game, we just aren’t on the faction they want and well that’s pretty much how I have always seen this topic.
I get that.
For me, it wasn’t so much about being a Thalassian as it was about being from one of those specific groups on the Alliance.
In fact, the first time I heard about high elves was when I was an exclusively Horde (mostly blood elf) player with no interest in the Alliance. My thought at the time was “that’s dumb, why can’t they play as them?” That’s kinda how I’ve always seen it. More about the groups than the race I guess.
I’ve kinda stopped caring too much about high elves and just moved on to void elves though.
I wish everyone was like that instead of trying to turn them into something they aren’t.
Exactly. Especially since, as I said, people who care that much can just opt out of the Void with a /cancelaura Entropic Embrace
macro.
I really value the arguments made from people who always valued faction identity and uniqueness these days.
I didn’t start out valuing it, I just felt sorry for a group of people who loved Alliance HEs as much as I liked Blood Elves, but after seeing the lack of substance for BE customization, and the behavior of the community both towards BE players / disregarding opinions and feelings as well as other areas that leave me thinking yikes about things, I really just have fallen back on my original love of Blood Elves.
I’m still happy for people like you who can enjoy the current customization compromise as is, my stance used to be more like Ariels where I was only concerned with lore / story but I do have a interest in preserving the last of the BE visual theme now.
I do think both NB and VEs should have ear size options I don’t really see that as a half elf confirmed thing so much as I see it as a quality of life thing that doubles as a RP tool.
Yeah. Like I get people who want to use the ear options for half elf RP, but I don’t think that’s the main intent of the options.
In fact, I headcanon Somand as being a half elf (more specifically a void elf of half elf origin), and if the ear options come to velves, I’d specifically keep the long ears I have now. The half elves from the WC3 beta had long ears like this. Long ears aren’t un-half elf.
Whenever I see Rexxar he makes me insecure very orc looking Mok’nathal body.
The short ears, I dunno what it is about them, just look weird imo.
Depends on the hair style. The mid length ones look good on my paladin for example. She uses that ponytail style that females got from males.

I second this
I thought I had sent this reply earlier but I guess I didn’t, what it originally said was that out of everything wrong with Nightborne the one thing I actually like is the knife ears. Lol.
