What could have been cool with Half Elves is that, assuming a new model and unique assets, they wouldn’t necessarily have to be strictly Human/High Elf Half Elves but with the right assets (say different ear options, skin tones, eye options), they could also be portrayed as Human/Night Elf Half Elves as well.
Oh yeah, for sure. But they literally came out with BFA. Releasing them one xpac and then doing a thorough re-work the next xpac is just excessive.
At least not have it where the AR has more meaningful customization than the core race that’s what pushes my buttons.
But I agree with your statement.
which is weird. you get core races for free. well other than the sub price for the game. but allied races, you gotta work for those and be of sufficient level/rep/questing progress. you’d think they have alot more than core races cause you had to not only play the game (game participation) but prove you care enough about it to expend the energy/time. its bass ackwards to make them subpar.
I love this idea. Who says they have to be strictly half human half high elf?
I agree. Core races should have the most options and should come first as far as getting options goes. Allied races still deserve some love though… especially the Nightborne. Won’t anyone think of the Nightborne???
The problem with this is that it feels far too much like a “premium skin”.
As in, they keep the core races limited to try and force players into grinding out the “prestige races” if they don’t want to have an awfully limited set of customizations.
What’s unfortunate is that it will likely take Blizz ages to do anything with allied races. Not only will they lack options when compared to core races but the Nightborne will be stuck with their crappy model for a while
solution is just to catch them up to the allied races, not the other way around. its like being ripped off for playing. look at nightborne. you put all that effort into making them playable and they are so subpar, its almost a joke.
I’d love to post a gif of someone gagging upon seeing this, but I’ll settle for giving you a like.
Damn these forum rules.
Also, generally speaking ARs are lore-wise a lot more niche than their core relatives. Orcs are the founders of the Horde, Mag’har are a literal alternate universe version of the Horde. Which of these should receive primacy?
Not only that, but which of those is going to be used to build more NPCs?
I’d lose the almost here, personally. Playable Nightborne are so bad off they are a joke, imo. Three skin tones? Really?
It may not take that long. 9.1 or 9.2 could see allied races get some work done. With that said, I expect the bulk of what allied races get to be hand-me-downs from their parent races, perhaps slightly altered in some cases. There might be one or two unique assets created but I don’t expect much more than that.
In the case of Nightborne though. They need real work. A lot of it. The model itself needs adjusting. They need more of… everything as far as options go. I wouldn’t be surprised to see several Night Elf assets shared with them though, including skin tones, eyes, hairstyles, and jewelry. Even if it has to be resized and maybe altered a bit for thematic aesthetics, most assets can be reworked to fit most races.
I’m out of likes now, and don’t feel like switching characters, but know that I appreciate your like.
F in the chat, if they made Nightborne not trash I’d almost consider maining one. They’re by far the best elf race by a huge margin.
I can understand void elves and Nightborne receiving more attention than the other ARs given their greater lore significance, but mein gott why is it only going one way?
Stop making great posts. I don’t want to switch characters!
He’s actually my most liked individual, much to my surprise
Sadly it’ll be a while before anyone approaches the top of my list. Many likes given from when I used to stalk the helf threads without a sub and obsessively like helf posts.
Lance and Avarie are on their way up though. You’d be higher if you posted more.
