Continuation of New Customisation Options for: Void Elves, Blood Elves, & misc high elves

I really wish this would happen. The lack of use inscription has is a real let down. They could add so many unique options for so many classes. Different spell effects for paladins is a great use of it. I’d also like my monk to be able to have color spell effects matching the Celestial she follows. Like even as a Mistweaver i would like a glyph that made all the spells red like Chi-Ji.

This would make lore sense to add, but Blizzard made them green specifically because they found red healing spells to be confusing.

Except they could have gone with a silvery with hints of red feathers and gold sparkles… Chi-ji is not monochrome lol.

From what I can tell from Kosak’s tweet, they wanted green specifically because “Green suits healing”.

I personally would have preferred Chi-Ji for Mistweavers.

I think adding a glyph would fix the desire for it. Pretty easy fix honestly.

I would assume the fact that they found it odd and confusing would make them hesitate to add red as an option.

I remember reading something about play-testers finding it confusing that the red effects coming at them were heals.

It seems the fact that they were red specifically was what Blizzard thought made it so confusing.

I feel like with the addition of “shadow mend” and the glyph that let them change Penace from light based to Shadow effect kinda negates their thought process at this point though.

Possibly, though designers can be bull-headed once they’ve already made a decision on something.

I’m not arguing against it, just pointing out what possible “problems” Blizzard may have with implementing it.

yet blood dks use blood heals. i think it has a red fx for a brief moment. your health bar is red. some healer tier gear has red accents. but yeah, i was confused after playing everquest for 3 years, and seeing only blue heals, to come to wow and see mostly green heals

what i think they should do, is follow old everquest’s original spell fx that got bigger and bigger the higher your level and spell level. so itd start off rather normal. then at the next upgrade to that spell, itd get flashier and bigger, till eventually a heal was a big, beautiful, yet gentle light show. all the spells were like that and was a really strong evidence of your progression. made ya feel good to cast them

Blood DKs self-heal, they don’t play the healer role. From my understanding, the main problem was red stuff flying at someone being a heal was found to be confusing by play-testers.

Again, I would like them to get red heal effects. A glyph would be fine, but I would have preferred they had them from the start. However Blizzard made their decision on that long ago, so a glyph would be close enough.

I do like the idea of tying the stars and cosmos into the void elf aesthetic; I think that would make them visually stunning with illuminated hair and holographic runes/tats. However, in regards to the fundamentals of the wow universe, they don’t really merge well. They are both separate cosmic forces, and arcane/order is not tied to shadow/void.

Also something to consider, the titans which fall under the arcane/order cosmic force battled against the old gods from shadow/void. These forces don’t seem like they would join hand in hand considering the history of the past. Shadow/void seems to be more similar to disorder/fel in some regards. I am aware that the two are not the same, and are indeed also separate cosmic sources of the universe. The properties of shadow/void seems to be more “chaotic” like Fel than in “order” like arcane, but this may also be personal headcanon.

Game-play wise, it doesn’t make sense for void elves being able to use light and holy magic, yet here we are. Not that I’m complaining. I have a couple light wielding void elves, but that’s mainly because they are the closest thing I have to playing a normal, alliance high elf. Then again, there are void elf mages. My point overall is, anything is possible I suppose. I still like the cosmos idea/aesthetic even if it doesn’t tie in well with shadow/void.

visually it does. the rift is set in outerspace. you’re surrounded by stars and nebula. the void is being manipulated and its animating over the ground like a twinkling star field being moved rapidly, to the point the stars stretch out a bit, like the effect of warping space in the starship enterprise. i think the devs are likening the void to black holes/worm holes or its associated with those things somehow.

Reminder that nothing is worse than those inhuman blood elves and void elves.

Welp, i’m off to hunt for this bow! It’s going to look AMAZING with my High Elf and Silver Covenant tabard!! ! <3 Edit: I didn’t get Thori’dal on my first run but i DID get the Golden Bow of Quel’Thalas <33!!

If we cannot have tattoos, what about camouflage warpaint.

I know I should really leave my painting program alone.
