If they thought Humans would’ve been too bland a foil, instead of blue eyed copies they could’ve gone with Dwarves.

Or Gnomes!
Vile little creatures.

Yes. Int vs int would’ve made for a nice foil, and given the Gnomes some much needed focus.

She’s also mentions they’re wrong and that they could still be redeemed, and I actually think that was her most recent canon opinion on the subject. They were made to oppose a Blood Elf faction joining Dalaran. I don’t know what else to say.

Following orders is one thing, of course. But these guys were having fun doing it. We saw that they were trying to feed Blood Elves to sharks. Think about that. They did that on their own accord.

I’m specifically talking about Silver Covenant. Silver Covenant and their ideologies are probably way more extreme than that of the average Alliance-alligned High Elf.

I’m talking about the Silver Covenant. And even then, I don’t think most High Elves agree with what Blood Elves are doing with Silvermoon. Nothing has been stopping them from returning, that includes Vereesa.

Being aligned with the Horde, forsaken, orcs and trolls is probably quite a huge difference to what most High Elves are used to.

Based on their actions in Legion, I’d assume the Silver Covenant have drifted away from their original purpose.

Vereesa herself is outright friendly to Blood Elves in Legion.

Which says nothing about culture. There is nothing but a political distinction.
Politics does not make for different culture, you are conflating the two.

That is a trait they share with blood elves, because the high elf people are haughty, arrogant, and cruel/

If you have to say “probably” then you’re making an assumption.

The high elves made up an extreme minority of their people, and even they vary as there are high elves who are against the alliance.

Until it’s said and shown otherwise, I’m still going to stick with what we know. I think it’s safe to assume Silver Covenant hate Blood Elves. And I also think that they’d make for (if Blizzard expanded on their theme) awesome Void Elves customizations.

Except…the leader of the Silver covenant said she believes in their redemption. That isn’t something you state when you hate someone.
Let alone, if you’re making an assumption, then you’re not supporting your view and we can’t really consider it at all true.
RP whatever you like, but nothing supports this idea.

The Silver Covenant don’t get enough focus for us to really know anything concrete about them.

But there seem to be hints that it’s the Magisters they dislike, and not the Blood Elves as a whole. They’ve worked alongside the Farstriders more than once, and don’t seem overly hostile to them.

Vereesa clearly used to go out with Lor’themar.
She got all haughty and wanted human potential, and they’ve been bitter enemies ever since!

Or maybe…Lorthemar preferred hot elven women and vereesa was not up to snuff!

If anything we’ve learnt that Lor’themar has the most based possible taste in women. Cougars.

Their new culture evolves around their politics? Their culture revolves around Silvermoon, so what happens with its politics is going to affect their culture because that’s where 99% of the thalassians were born and raised(Dalaran being the exception). Hating Trolls, Orcs, Horde and Forsaken is probably something most High Elves took part in before they became Blood ELves. The High Elves were only ever at war with the Horde. Blood Elves have only ever been allied with the Horde.

I know Silver Covenant isn’t big enough to have its own government and whatever else, but I think it can be classified as part of Alliance High Elf culture. It’s something Blood Elves have never been a part of and most likely never will be, and it’s different from anything they offer.

Being proud, haughty and arrogant isn’t exclusively a Blood ELf thing. Every single race in the game posses those traits, and we’ve seen it millions of times. Even trolls act like that.

…Yes?

The Alliance-aligned High Elves are probably the closest people that resemble what High Elves used to be(At least in terms of beliefs), and that’s kind of the perspective I was talking about with that last little bit there.

Magisters are a pretty huge deal to Blood Elves, I’d imagine. And none of their interactions with the Blood Elves have ever really been friendly. If Haludron wasn’t there to calm everyone down when Vereesa returned to Eversong Woods, their presence would have been outright rejected.

We’re talking about people that literally tried to feed a living blood elf to sharks. Nothing the Horde has ever done is quite a cruel as that.

That’s not a thing Cele, and we’ve seen nothing to indicate it. You’re trying to suggest political views will influence their culture, and this simply is not true from an anthropological perspective.

It…isn’t?
They’re managed by the Kirin Tor.

We’ve seen individuals act like that, but their culture as a whole is the same as blood elves…because they lived together for over 3k+ years.

We don’t make assumptions, that is headcanon.

Except that isn’t true per the lore.
It is stated blood elves carry the high elf legacy, and that the high elves are holding onto the shadows of regret.

Their entire people have evolved in that city since their inception. They never spread out and made different cultures like most other races did. Every thing their people ever did has revolved around SIlvermoon.

Typo, my bad.

Well yeah, to an extent. But most of our assumptions are based on what we’ve seen and heard, so there’s a bit of merit to all of our opinions.

Exactly. Any individual can possess those traits. Saying it’s because they’re like Blood Elves is strange. We’ve seen Blood Elves and High Elves be humble before too.

Blood Elves are the true carriers of the High Elf legacy, but that wasn’t what I was saying. What I was saying is–Alliance-aligned High Elves are probably the closest people that resemble what High ELves used to be.

Okay?
That doesn’t mean the high elves and blood elves are different culturally.

Ah

We have, but for the most part, they’re arrogant, power driven, magic loving elves. Those who aren’t a minority and have made a very conscious choice not topractice their original culture. The Silver covenant is not in this group.

Except they aren’t, because the blood elves maintained their traditions and values. Which is what the alliance first grouped up with in the past.
High elves are the group that refuse to honor the people that died.

Coming off a bit strong there mate.

I hate when someone tries to say that they are more than us or do you think that the elves living in Farstrider enclave have a completely different lifestyle than they had before the invasion? They protected quelthalas and killed forest troll and continue to do so

No? What? I didn’t say anything about Haludron changing.

But their culture has? Hating Trolls was part of their culture before. There’s a vendor in Silvermoon that doesn’t even sell anything to you if you’re a troll. Imagine that but basically everyone agrees with him–that’s what they used to be like(from what we’ve seen). Annasterian tried purging an entire race of them when he was presented with a Forest Troll’s head by Alleria.

tell me what is the cultural difference there
