This isn’t limited to any one facet of content as it is applicable to all aspects of the game. And no I’m not saying to nerf current content because the scaling isn’t the annoying part. However,
Content SHOULD NOT be difficult because Blizz took and nerfed your tools. As the expacs have gone by, Blizz has gradually reduced player power by ludicrous degrees while making content more annoying to manage. Between putting healers to work (for some reason), making every pack of trash cast instant death, and more, the list of things we have to manage just keeps getting longer while our tools have become less potent.
I’m all for content being difficult, but content shouldn’t be difficult just because Blizz put a bullet in your leg and added landmines to the route because you ran the marathon too good.
M+2 drops 496 gear…You have a 471ilvl. It’s not surprising that you are struggling
In my opinion, the real problem is that there is no clear path from your position to M0 so that you can move into higher mythics. The best you can do is heroics, which can bring you to 476ilvl…and then after that you have to rely on luck from weekly content. (LFR, Vault, and the Weekly Rep Quest)
The game should “scale” well. In fact that goes for a lot of big software products. They should be easy to use for the casual user but have features that build up to what ever level of complexity advanced users need.
So take Oracle Database for example. It’s super easy for a beginner to install Oracle, take all the defaults, write some simple SQL programs and get it working. But their Enterprise edition can scale up to run a massive complex database.
In WoW, it’s easy for a casual player to get a character running and follow the story and do simple dungeons but then for more complexity there’s Heroic, LFR and the top level stuff.
That’s what it means for software products to scale well.
Spamming heroics will get you 476 gear, plus basic crafted gear, weekly/world events, and LFR should push you into 480ish, which is more than enough to do an M0.
Again. Players SHOULD NOT be required to do weekly content to progress in dungeons. Once you are able to do M+2s it is no longer required, so it shouldn’t be required from the get go. There should be a farmable clear path.
Also, for a lot of players 480 is not high enough to do M0s. They drop 493, so that’s still a big gap.
It’s not overturned. It’s perfectly tuned for what they wanted. (e.g. M+10) The problem is that the gap between heroic and M0 is to large with no way to move between them.
I tepidly agree with this. I do think that normal content should be very easy. I also think that the highest difficulty should reward achievement or transmog not ilv. Something like raids highest ilv being heroic but adding the exra challenges to mythic and giving things like transmog. Same with mythic+ have a limited key level that gives ilv and than offer other things for higher achievement.(Perhaps even a mount and than it can be put on the trading post next expansion lol) No idea if this is considered a hot take but I think it would make the game better and still give reason for people to challenge themselves.
In some ways I feel glad hearing this. I haven’t had a bad time getting into keys n stuff means I must be ok at them. This means it’ll only get easier as time goes on.
Why not? When the season started I was 488 ilvl and still benefited from getting crests and off pieces from world content. I tend to think having more avenues to gear is better than having fewer.
Because it’s an inconsistent system design. Raiding has a clear path from LFR to Mythic without requiring outside content. Same with PVP. Dungeons should as well.
Currently there is no path from normal to M+10 without outside content.
