I am a Master’s Student at SUNY Brockport and as part of my thesis, I would like to get in contact with a member of the forum moderation team to discuss the possibility of posting a link to a Qualtrics survey on the forums that players could participate in.
The study concerns griefing behavior in Online Videogames.
There is no advertising of any kind for any site not Blizzard owned on the forums.
I also doubt the moderators will have the final say in this type of request either, to be honest.
You ought to be contacting the corporate office directly.
Legal@blizzard.com would be a good start.
You might try some of the wow fan sites that have forums. They might be better since blizzard does not tend to allow things like this
Facebook has quite a few WoW fan groups that are not official but have massive amounts of players that belong to them, you might try posting there to get people for your survey.
Blizzard does not allow use of their platforms for advertising or promoting outside links. Not unless they have thoroughly reviewed and approved it as part of an outreach effort of theirs. Like some of their charity efforts.
Some things to think about:
You are creating a survey about griefing behavior in video games. What group are you attempting to actually survey? The average WoW players? The average MMO player? The average COD shooter player? The average PvP game player like Overwatch or similar? The forums are a tiny tiny fraction of self selected individuals who pay a monthly subscription for WoW. Of those, you would get a second self selected group who opt to take the survey. The forums have less participation than more open platforms like reddit or discord.
The game genre you select, and the population you choose to survey, is going to dramatically impact your results. I assume you know all this …but had to throw it out there anyway.
Sorry, Wulfgeir, the others are correct. While we can appreciate the need for you to be able to collect data for your thesis, that is not something that we able to allow on our forums. Sorry.
I’d agree with Vorsol. You might reach out to the mods for the WoW subreddit or similar sites and communities, including various Discord communities. They may be able to allow a post like that.
It’s not exactly about the final say as much as it is that we understand the policies set up for these forums. 
Thanks Vrak, yes I probably worded the reply a tad incorrectly. I was thinking it would fall under a policy both on the forums and possibly anywhere else within Blizzard, and I appreciate the clarification
