Yeah, none of those posts were offensive, I don’t get why someone reported em.
good luck reacting fast enough when there are 30 mages casting flame strike, 50 warlock chaos bolts flying everywhere, 20 prot paladin shields flying everywhere and so much more going on in a epic bg, while displacer itself going off after like a second and having a 50 yard radius circle the size of a raid bosses arena.
I wouldn’t worry about it. If they reported that, it’s not someone I would enjoy talking to about game mechanics.
Unfortunately, I do not run with stacks. I play against stacked premades, so I am familiar with what you have said. It is mayhem, but you can see who is quick on their feet. Those are bnet keepers.
^^
i hate these grav bombs when they happen to me, but when i use them and 1shot an entire raid i enjoy them
uwu xd
honestly items in general are bad imo.
u win a 1v1 encounter bc ur item was off the cooldown? terrible game design
those potions that instantly restore your hp bar come to mind… an equal 1v1 can turn tides real quick if only 1 person has that on disposal. and it leaves a sour taste in your mouth knowing you lost because they got to regen their entire hp bar for free because of an item they have in their backpack
Keep unrated bgs and epic bgs to all their silly mechanics. people can do what they want. Remove one thing they can remove um all. Or just queue rated bgs/blits? If premades want to nuke eachother into oblivion with these toys be my guest. I have no sympathy.
If they are egregiously overpowered, I am huge fan of removing things.
Like how using sticky warp grenades was bad for the game because you could use it to take the flag out of bounds in WSG or Twin Peaks.
Maybe you feel like that really elevated gameplay to the next level though, idk.
What I see are PUGS using it against stacked q-syncers. I also see q-syncer comms using it against other q-syncer comms and pugs.
It did add an annoying dynamic that test one’s survival and reaction skills.
Would it help if you knew when it would detonate? Yes.
As it is, we have no idea when it lands nor detonate.
Imagine if Shadow Rift or the Paly Jail libram had no visual cue.
lol. have you even seen the radius of these grenades? it’s HUGE. like bigger than any other aoe circle in the game including ‘vehicle’ ones. if it was half the size, i’d agree with you but it’s not.
The Siege Engine in IoC’s main bomb has the largest radius and most dmg. That thing can wipe whole groups, it’s lovely when firing it…but the vehicle usually gets driven into the cannons and done.
It’s funny how soft the vehicles in IoC/WG get every expansion. You could fart on them and they collapse.
Isn’t just bgs… can watch multi rank 1 mages playing the same build in arenas at high rating and destroying the lobbies.
Build should have never been incentivized
Siege engine cannon is 8 yard radius compared to grav displacer’s 20 yard radius.
To counter the misinformation
-
They have a 20 yard radius - 40 yard diameter. That’s comparable to most classes max casting range if that helps you visualize the size.
-
They can displace vehicles
-
Can be used to DC people if used with certain other abilities ( I don’t even know how you would gather proof to report someone for this as it needs 2 people afaik)
-
While it has a 5 min cooldown there is no debuff on players so a coordinated team can spam them one after the other.
Are you going to insist with this 8 yard info? You’re gonna have to prove this is accurate.
Correct me if I’m wrong and this is the wrong entry?
relevant info from link:
Trigger Missile (Cannon)
Radius: 8 yards
PVP Multiplier: 1
It’s 20 yard radius at 3 stars, people only use 3 stars. You can not avoid a 40 yard diameter Gravitational Displacer unless you stay out of the fight entirely. No amount of spreading out is going to save your team, and most maps limit how much you can spread out (Ashran corridors, IoC hangar ramp, AV chokes, WG enclosed nodes). The amount you’d have to attempt to spread out is so crazy that it would be unhealable and you team can be stacked up anyways cause everyone can use displacers.
Compared to an item that wipes entire raids of players, item enchantments are minimally impactful.
There has not been a consumable this strong in the history of wow that was not bugged. The closest we’ve come would be 30 second duration, nondispellable Free Action Potions that grant immunity to stun/slow/snare, and that falls well short of the power level of displacers. An item that normally seems super powerful like Crimson Embers +30% damage for 30 seconds is simply junk when matched up against Displacers. The disparity of massive.
Random BGs is the most popular form of pvp in wow. We deserve better quality gameplay than having our teams sucked up into stacked to be aoe to death. There has to be a limit on the power of consumables and displacers has exceeded that by a mile. No one should have access to a consumable this absurd. It sets a bad precedent for a overpowered consumable arms race. As a healer there is no ability I can use to save my team if they get displaced into aoe. They are going to all die and no raid cooldown is going to change that. There is no counterplay.
Why are you making this about premade vs premade? Premades happen to use them a lot more than pug players but that’s irrelevant. Why should pugs have to deal with premades using displacers against them until their entire pug team is dead? Premades already have enough advantages over pugs without letting them stack the pugs on one spot for easy aoe. Removing displacers would be in favor of pugs players not having to have them used on them.
The vast majority of displacers are used by premades. I think many pug players don’t know what they are or why their whole raid got wiped in 5 seconds. You aren’t going to react to a 40 yard diameter displacers with a 2 second delay. Even if you manage to survive you can’t account for all your teammates that just died. Shadow rift and Paly Jail do not havve 40 yard diameter. Comboing a displacer with a Shadow Rift can have hilarious results though… which is a major concern of it’s own.
I feel that most players who regularly use displacers, and especially those that use them while in premades, will agree that they are unhealthy for pvp and create an unfair team fighting environment.
Hey thanks for the correction Davè. I’ve never actually looked at the spell on wowhead.com. I’ve blown up a number of people, though, and when the numbers pop it feels like a very big radius.
From the displacer end, I am only on the receiving end, and therefore it feels smaller…maybe it looks bigger from the user perspective. Perhaps in the same way the cannon felt large radius to me when I’ve used it. But, I’d don’t use 'em and never will so…
I wish it would go, but, I’ll play even if it stays. At the end, I have fun whatever, generally. I mean I’d stop if pvp became just plunderstorm, but that won’t happen…will it?
That’s not accurate. Have you played epics lately with PUGS?
Didå is correct. the number of poorly used displacer is kinda funny. It happens often and usually we don’t end up blown up. Buut, my last Ashran today on Ronalvandy earlier they did know how to use 'em and I got wiped a number of times…pulled in and then poof! gone to GY lol.
NP I too enjoy using the siege engine cannon >:)
