It would seem every time I reopen bnet after coming back home from work or something even just restarting the computer WoW always has to “Update”. Its gotten to a point where it takes about 5 minutes just to FIND this update its looking for.
I tested it out a few times by having it update, opening WoW and playing for anywhere from 5 seconds-5 minutes and then closing it. Every time it has to update. I have the game fully updated every time.
Sometimes it even shows “waiting on other updates” when its the only one in que. I’ve even uninstalled all other Battle net games to have it be the ONLY bnet game (Good bye OW/HS etc).
Is this something on my end I can try and fix or is it something that blizzard is working on? Any help is much appreciated as this is a big annoyance that makes me turn on the computer turn on bnet and go make supper or something because its going to take time.
For reference I’m running the latest version of Windows 11, i7-9700k CPU (3.6 boosted to like 4) 32gb of ram so I don’t think its truly mt hardware’s issue. I also direct connect (ethernet) for my internet and I have a fibre 1.5gb speed.
Thanks so much for posting here with these details regarding the repeated update issues. This behavior with the Battle.net App attempting to force-update games is typically caused by corrupted local Battle.net files, a conflicting third-party program, or a Windows-level permissions issue. I recommend first “clean reinstalling” the Battle.net App to clear out any damaged or corrupted files:
Next (before re-installing) let’s delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders in the Windows temporary file locations below. If you don’t see all 3 folders in each location, that is okay—just delete the folders you have):
Press Windows Key + R and type: %LOCALAPPDATA%. Delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders.
Repeat the process for %APPDATA%, %TEMP%, and %PROGRAMDATA%. Delete any Battle.net, Blizzard, and/or Blizzard Entertainment folders.
If that does not fix it, be sure to fully update or temporarily uninstall antivirus programs which may be mistakenly blocking the Battle.net Agent from running. More information on troubleshooting security applications here, if curious.
If the problem continues, let’s go ahead and have you post a ‘DxDiag’ so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:
Press Windows Key + R.
Type DxDiag and press Enter.
In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the DXDiag. It’ll look like this:
