Constant disconnects from Blizzard Services and game on Hardcore

I"m still having this issue on retail. Trying a full reinstall now to see if that changes anything.

Same here. I have great internet. My FIOS is hardly every down. Other than when hurricane Helene and Milton hit, and we were down for 2 weeks. But that wasn’t disconnecting. That was not having the ability to connect at all due to hurricane damage in my area.

I generally get interrupted from ALL WoW experiences during Hurricane Peak Season Sept & October. This year was the worst.

When SoD had BWL and ZG launch, I stayed out of WoW completely, and then the hurricanes happened.
Luckily, my property only sustained some damage. But it was a month before I could get back into WoW. IRL came 1st.
When I did get back into WoW, I semi-left my Hardcore Guild and jumped into the 20th Anniversary Event in Retail. I did check back into my HC toons, but haven’t actually played them since.

Now I see that all the Hardcore Realms are down for maintenance and in preparation of Classic Fresh, possibly streamlining the Hardcore transfer experience, I think that MAYBE the Devs will fix whatever the constant disconnect issues were. Especially if all Hardcore Realms will be able to transfer toons over to Classic Fresh for future TBC. Classic Fresh brings a large population back from not just Hardcore, but SoD, Cata Classic, and even Retail. So with a much larger playerbase yelling and complaining about disconnects, should that issue stay the same, there is bound to be something done about it sooner than later. After all, some players will want to STAY on Hardcore, especially the raiding guilds.

Lets all hope that today’s maintenance finally fixes this issue once and for all.

What’s a good private server? Literally servers ran out of someone’s garage as a passion project are more stable than this.

My 2 cents…

I’ve had the disconnect issue, on and off with Blizzard. Very similar to what you all describe… game and launcher disconnect, but i am still connected to the internet and can browse any site but Blizzard.

The only way to fix it is to restart my modem and router. And the only way to get it to stop disconnecting is for me to completely reset my router (new passwords and all).

I have also set my launcher to close when the game opens; I think that is solid advice. The less connections to Blizzard at the same time the better, imo.

I’m not a techie, so I don’t know what is causing it, but it ‘feels’ like something on Blizzard side will mess with your router and causes it to stop sending data. I say this, because full reset of my router usually stops the disconnects for several months.

Anyway, I feel your pain, and have lost several HC chars to disconnects including the first SF 60 Priest on Skull Rock.

This made me laugh! Like, FR. :joy:
Not sure it’s a good idea to discuss private servers on the BLIZZARD forums though. That’s a r/wow discussion IMO.

@Boogeyman

Your situation sounds sus to me. But then again, I don’t know what your network setup looks like. Not everyone sets their network up the same way, and changes do get made down the road. But resetting your router at every Blizzard disconnect sounds a bit extreme IMO.

Have you tried just stopping all Blizzard Services from the Task Manager? It’s far less intrusive to your network/router. On Win11, just right-click your bottom bar (task bar), and choose Task Manager, and then sort the list by name so you can see all services in alphabetical order. Choose all services with the name Blizzard in them and End Task.

There is no “secret back door” that Blizzard is using to your router. So that should stop any communication from Blizzard Services to your PC and Router.

Hope that helps. :slightly_smiling_face:

PS: I’m so sorry you lost your SF 60 Priest to a D/C! UGH!!

Thanks! Yes, it is quite sus. Currently, I’ve been playing for over a month w/o having to do a full reset. So I do go long periods w/o the issue, but when it pops up, it will happen frequently until I actually do the full reset… then i get a few weeks or months of no disconnects. Hence how i have gotten several HC 60s.

All of that said, D/C’s are a part of HC. I’ve been used to them since playing Diablo 2 HC on dial-up. I like to think… HC is a mental state, not just a mode in a video game.
