Considering RP here

Like the title says I’ve been considering roleplaying on this server for about a week now. I’ve been lurking the forum. Checking out guild posts and other posts. I’m sure some of you have seen my posts here and there. Should I try Wyrmrest Accord out?

If so, what side should I join first? I will be leveling a brand new character. I don’t have most of the Horde Allied Races but would like to get them in the future. I’m a long-time player that played on Akama. Then on Moon Guard. Now I’m obviously on Stormrage and have been for some time. I did RP once back in BC, Cata, and MoP was the last expac where I roleplayed.

So let me know what you think, Wyrmrest. You might just have a new friend.

Welcome to the server! I’ll start this off with Alliance might not be nearly as active as MG Alli, it’s still alive and well. It seems pretty close-knit and I enjoy hanging out with people over there.

Beyond that I’m a bit biased to Horde. I love the community here and the huge variety of RP there is. Anything you’re looking for you’ll have no trouble finding. Find a character idea that makes you happy and have fun! This is a great server with great people, you’ll have no trouble fitting in here.

I was considering playing a character that’s not a mage as a mage (ooc) and saying that every now and then a very powerful mage ghost possesses them. So it’d be one character sometimes and the possessing ghost character in that character’s body at other times. Just playing with the idea :stuck_out_tongue:

that sounds really cool!

has cool potential dramatic moments when other characters form relationships with one personality different from the other personality!

I reckon so!

Moon Guard definitely has the highest Alliance population, but Wyrmrest Accord is the most balanced (with a Horde bias, but not one so large as to render Alliance obsolete). That said you’ll still find active Alliance and Horde RP in Stormwind, Silvermoon and Orgrimmar at most hours! (MG Goldshire also scares me, but that’s just me :stuck_out_tongue: )

Because of this relative balance, it’s also the best place for crossfaction RP. I’ve RPed both factions here for years and I’ve always had a lot of fun, and with the potion of tongues and cross RP addon it’s really easy to walk right up to people from the other faction here.

I’d 100% recommend WRA. I think it’s a great realm! I transferred here from an oceanic PvP realm in 2012 and I’ve never looked back - WRA is a great place to be.

Thank you everyone! I am more partial to Alliance but like I said before I am interested in unlocking the Horde ARs. Maybe this’ll be a good chance to do just that. Plus plenty of Horde races can be shaman. I also love the customization options about to be available to tauren!

Yeah and it’s definitely not a bad idea to play both factions. I actively play both Sarestha here and my Void Elf Hunter, Fal’therin. As well as a smattering of minor alts on each faction.

Okay, so I’ve decided I’m going to start my Wyrmrest journey Hordeside. What race would you guys suggest? Should I make a strawpoll? :stuck_out_tongue:

Undead of course :stuck_out_tongue:

But if you want to play shaman my vote goes to a good old classic orc! Lots of neat lore surrounding orc history and orc shamans, imo.

Hmm, a shaman orc would be a good and fairly safe choice! Now I should think about some ideas. I know a decent amount of orc lore. I wonder what cool things I could do with shaman. Maybe have her able to see and speak or banish the dead to kind of make it less about MAH ELEMINTZ and more spiritual. Is that something an orc would do?

I reckon they could go either way. The orcs do greatly value their ancestors and the like, so a shaman whose specialty is the more spiritual side of shamanism sounds totally plausible to me!

Sounds like a Shadowmoon Orc in the making!

Upon looking them up I found that not only were they relatively peaceful, which is great, but they also had pilgrims. Lots of their mystics were pilgrims and not all of them always looked to the stars. Some took care of the dead and made sure rituals were done to allow the spirits rest. Could even make her protective of remains in general and able to perform funeral rites. Fun stuff! This has been a very helpful post. Now, I need to make sure this is all feasible as a green orc though. I don’t have the mag’har unlocked sadly :<

I’m not very up on orc lore, so I can’t speak to how you might best get a Shadowmoon character to have come through the Dark Portal with the Old Horde. But I’d like to say that if you wanted to temporarily play the character on a green orc, with a note in your TRP that they’re supposed to be Mag’har and you’re working on unlocking the allied race, I think most people would probably roll with it.

Alternatively I can go with a sin’dorei character. Forget the spiritual stuff and just straight up play a mage. A very magey mage with magey magic. If I wanted to spice it up she could focus on helping with super magical dangerous creatures like the Violet Hold/Arcatraz has those. Targets too dangerous for normal catchers. At least until I actually unlock Mag’har. Could just have both.

Dissenting opinion: the correct answer is always troll.

I can actually see the above shaman design working very well with a troll. Man all these great suggestions make it difficult to choose!

Go Goblin! Their lore is pretty much “Tri-State American gets dropped into Azeroth”, and up until not too long ago, they were all living on their own island apart from everyone. It’s pretty convenient.

Also, they can be Mages and Shamans!

It would be very easy to come up with dialogue for a goblin and it’s pretty fun. I’m just kind of confused on how they view the world really. Do they just see it as opportunity after opportunity? Are they ALL greedy? Maybe I should look’em up.

Wait aren’t they similar to the Ferengi?

I might recommend trying out all of the concepts you’ve mentioned here. Play them up to level 20 or so. It’s likely that one or two will stand out to you – because of their personality, or their spell effects, or their racial animations, or what have you – and then you’ll have a better idea of what you’re going to enjoy spending your leveling time on.
