Conquest upgrade tokens

I am sad to report the S2 upgrade tokens for pvp gear do not scale without rating. If you recall s1, every 10 weeks you received the sigil to upgrade a piece of gladiator gear. The first round was a 370 upgrade, then the second one was a 385 upgrade token.

I was hopeful that after 10 weeks of the commendations (for capping conquest), I would receive a token to upgrade an item to 400 (following the Heroic quality pattern of s1). Alas, my token only upgrades to 380 (not 385), 370 for azerite pieces. That’s what I get for being a filthy pvp casual…

So for anyone hoping to upgrade an existing piece of gear, sorry for the bad news. :disappointed_relieved:

I kind of suspected they would be worthless. Thanks for the information, though!

When I saw the S2 reward schedule, then noticed we received the commendations for capping each week, I was optimistic the tokens would follow the previous pattern.

On the bright side I will remove “cap conquest” from my WoW to-do list going forward.

This has got to be a bug; the weekly reward is 385 minimum. If you just started in S2, you wouldn’t have anything to upgrade (edit) except the weapon you got for week 1, but week 10 is a 400 weapon, so that doesn’t make any sense either.

I hope you’re right and Blizz corrects it. For the item to be worse than the current rewards seems ludicrous.

The S2 rewards page says the Quartermaster’s Bounty quest should reward a trophy, not a sigil. It should scale with rating. Hopefully its a bug and this will be switched over soon. Maybe try posting this on bug forum?

I hope this is a bug. I was looking forward to getting a 400 dagger for my MH and upgrading my OH to 400.

I just opened I ticket to check. Will share the response once received.

I think Blizzard’s mind set is that all PVP players play rated arenas for gear at ~3000 rating. It took them years to figure out that most of their players were not cutting edge progression raiders; I guess it’s taking them decades to figure out that most of their players are not cutting edge rated players.

Part of the problem is probably that the devs talk to the people who win their tournaments, but don’t talk to average players.

So I just heard back from my ticket. I don’t think I’m allowed to paste their response, but it wasn’t good news.

Basically, I was told that it isn’t a bug. There has been feedback that the item should be an upgrade to the current season’s gear, but no decisions have been made yet.

Perhaps things will change down the line. But for now it’ll save me from grinding conquest on 4 characters.

This is disappointing, but thank you for the update.

I really can’t see that this is accurate info from the GM you spoke to. The one coin per week reward started with S2. All rewards in S2 were 385 pieces, with the exception of the weapon in week 1, which was 375, making it the only item that could possibly benefit from an upgrade to 380. In week 10, you get a 400 weapon, which renders upgrading the 375 to 380 moot except as an offhand or offspec.

I can’t believe the intent was “after 10 weeks, you will get a 5ilvl upgrade on an off-spec or offhand weapon, unless it happened to warforge in the first place, in which case you’re totally out of luck”.

Does this mean in Season 3 we’ll get 10 more coins, for the opportunity to raise a 385 to 390…except nobody will have any 385’s if they’ve been PvPing enough to earn those 10 coins?

Let’s get this fixed, please. Even if it were intended – and I still doubt it is – it would be incredibly inept design.

I agree it’s poor design. The only reason I capped conquest on my toons was to upgrade pvp trinkets to 400. Hopefully I don’t get in trouble for posting this, but here is the pertinent part of the ticket response.

So I have a little more info about those “Battleborn Sigil”. Those were added to help people from season 1 be able to come back and use those to level up their gear to progress into season 2.

Now those Battleborn Sigil are not intended to be used once you have already gotten yourself established already within the season and gotten rewards.

There has been many suggestions posted in the forums for this to change due to the number of weeks and coins it takes to purchase those. Sadly there has been no follow up to raising that item level those reward to a Sinsiter items.

Except it takes 10 weeks of capped conquest to get one (discounting arena players getting them for failed rolls), at which point you have 9 of 15 slots (edit: #16 is neck) filled with 385+, and one with 375+. So I guess if:

…you’ve never done any emissaries, Darkshore, Ivus, Timewalking weekly or mythic dungeon weekly, and have done zero incursions and zero LFR or done them and been unlucky with warforges…

…yet despite not playing the game, you kept an old piece of 370 S1 gear around…

…then yeah, it would be a useful catchup mechanic for someone.

Does this unicorn exist? And if so, he must be very special indeed, to be worth designing for at the expense of the tens (hundreds?) of thousands of people who capped 10 weeks of conquest expecting to get an actual, useful upgrade.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. We just need someone from Blizz to say “this should be a ilvl 400 upgrade token” then fix it. Sadly, I don’t think that will happen.

They can work with Season 1 gear? I have a bow I really like from season 1, maybe I should buy rating for a week and get it boosted to 415.

I got it yesterday and it’s basically worthless.

I would have played those 10 weeks regardless of the tokens but Blizzard needs to treat their players better. It’s just another mark in the Blizzard Sucks column.
