Despite moving up in the bracket, there is no way to upgrade conquest PvP gear to Combatant, Rival, etc. with the new upgrade system.
Using the PvE currency only upgrades the PvE item level (expected).
So how do we rank up our conquest gear? The vault rewards appear to be correct, based on ilvl, but we won’t know for sure until next Tuesday.
What are you trying to upgrade if not the pve ilvl? Just the “title” of the gear?
The pvp ilvl has always stayed the same.
Conquest is one flat PvP item level, there’s no upgrading it.
In PvP? We don’t.
It’s a flat ilev regardless of quality, as the majority of the pvp community requested coming into Dragonflight.
you dont upgrade it… it is all a static pvp ilvl.
Once you try to upgrade it, it only upgrades the PvE ilvl.
The gear says “Unranked” and I’m now Combatant I. How do you upgrade the title on the gear?
Last season it was done with Honor points. This season it can’t be upgraded.
You just upgrade it with flightstones and dragon coins or whatever
just like last season, the gear will always be the same ilvl in PvP no matter what “rank” it is
this season you just use flightstones to upgrade the pve ilvl
So gear marked as “Unranked” never gets it title updated this season regardless of how high we climb in the PvP bracket?
Guess not. Weird change but doesnt really matter outside “sense of accomplishment”
True, however I can’t believe this wasn’t tested on PTR prior to going live.
Gonna bump this thread, so new pieces out of the vault have a “rank” to them and can scale higher than the “unranked” conquest pieces you can buy.
What gives? The elite chest from getting 1600 (pvp version) once upgraded goes all the way to 483 ilvl and 495 pvp ilvl in arenas? Is this a bug?
While the unranked stuff is stuck at 463, 489 in arenas

Yes I just tried upgrading my ring, the same thing just a visual upgrade for pvp ilvl- snaps right back to 489.
The base ilvl however is definitely going up higher on my elite piece (now can be upgraded to 483, same as keystone) versus unranked (hard stuck at 463). Problem being, there is no way to make gear ranked with the exception of getting it out of your vault.
This has to be a bug right?
They got to make their gearing tedious and convoluted to increase “player frustration” and “playtime metrics.”

Bump, a dk streamer got a 483 pve ilvl weapon from his vault and the max you can upgrade one from the cq vendor is 463. Don’t know why we scrapped shadowlands s1 gearing where the game had the highest pvp participation via PvErs getting gear in a decade.
PvE players don’t wanna PvP to gear, PvP players don’t wanna PvE to gear. Forcing people into different aspects of the game they don’t want to participate in is dumb. The SL system was horrendous, it took forever and created gear gaps between people.
