The only thing Blizzard ever implements are systems to slow you down (soul ash, renown, conquest) just so they can improve their playtime metrics.
This game state is so pathetic how are you ever gonna cap conquest in arena with 25-35 points per win when you’re 190-200 ilvl in the 1600-1800 bracket getting one tapped by absolute buffoons that have been hardstuck in the lower brackets with BiS gear since season started.
Even in RBGs you have to beg to get in groups because you’re so irrelevant you get 1 tapped by a ww fart and the only thing gatekeepingfrom higher rating is actually gear since it’s so easy to get 1600-1800 in 20-30 games.
It’s so unrewarding to play it’s disgusting.

It’s so obvious how they design grinds to keep their metrics up. There have always been grindy things, but in the past like maybe classic-WoD it felt like they designed the game to be enjoyable first and if a grind was part of that then ok. Now extending playtime is at the forefront of every decision they make and it ruins the entire game. Honestly not sure I have ever felt so fed up with all of it as I do now.

Buff conquest from arena and bring back boxes dropping from wins that contained gold and fish
I miss the free gold above all

Not just that. Now they are removing monthly sub and the minimum is 2months sub and also increasing the prices of the subs all around.
They are getting agressive and it will hurt them a lot.

the main issue is the development team can’t be real players of the game.
the MMO genre is known for the grind, but the rewards need to actually pay off or the time feels completely wasted.
there should be an account wide pvp season levels for each season. you play your main to max gear and max pvp season level, some of the rewards should be earn 20% more conquest per win at level 10 pvp so that when you get on your alts, you can earn conquest and honor much more quickly.
i also think at like pvp level 20 you can unlock upgrading your gear to 207, level 30 213, and maybe at max level for season 226, let rating still allow high skilled players to get an early jump on better gear for a reward and maybe keep the 232 weapons at 2400 rating, otherwise gear will still be meaningful but everyone will be able to obtain it.,
they aren’t changing the way subscriptions work, only if you buy gametime cards… they are only producing 60 day cards from now on to save on production cost, they were doubtfully used much over tokens and just subscribing for a month anyways.

I wouldn’t mind this grind if there wasn’t a whole expansion worth of gear difference between the lower and higher gear brackets
It blows my mind just didn’t put a gear cap in brackets
There ya go Blizzard I just solved the boosting problem, alt problem, balance problem and sub problem for free
Actually I pay you 15$ to do it

I like how we use the excuse as they want to keep us playing but if they were more pro alts I believe they would get a much greater result from that as people love being able to play different things more so than having to spend all your energy on one class. just my opinion though

Yeah it’s been my experience in life there’s a wrong way to do something to get the result you want and there’s a right way to do it where you treat people right and have good intentions which can get the same result or better without the baggage of knowing you are taking advantage of people and generally being a bad person. They want people to play their game a ton which is fine, but pursue it the right way not by making players miserable. Just my opinion.

One of the biggest fights are players who want gear to be meaningful vs players who think stat templates will make the game overall better.
This is an MMO, templates failed because everyone got bored, cool you got a new dagger… but you do 200 more damage than you did before… the time feels like it meant nothing.
whether most people realize it or not, investing your time into a character that starts out doing no meaningful damage or heals and then watching the payoff is why we ALL play this game and put our time into it. Otherwise there’s plenty of pvp options that start everyone at a level playing field.
Don’t lock gear behind a wall that casual players can’t reach without being carried, this kills the game populations for Pvp and pve overall.
Edit: I also think Blizzard made a HUGE mistake with the ilvl differences from base 197 to 226, this sets a bad precedent for the rest of the expansion as I imagine we will be at 200k+ hp easy by the end of the next tier at this point.

The idea is that casual players can improve and eventually overcome that wall.
I think it’s okay that players are rewarded for being more skilled than others. If you want to advocate that the power in gear be slightly reduced, I think that would be more fair. But players should absolutely be incentivized to reach higher ratings through powerful gear.

Kind of why i said better players could still obtain higher gear levels faster by rating and like in the past when one item would be locked behind rating gave you something to push for and improve to achieve.
If you think the masses of players who play a few hours will ever achieve a rating of 1600+ in the current game state, you may be slightly delusional. It takes a lot of time to research class abilities and practice that the average player does not possess.
I think gated strongest pvp weapon upgrades behind something like 2200 rating or 2400 seems fair, but all gear makes no sense and the casuals leave.
a lot of the kids that don’t understand, and mmo needs players to succeed because of it’s overall cost to run.

Yes, I’m aware of what you said, I just disagree with it. I think that’s not enough incentive, as it doesn’t really matter after the mid-season point.
It’s not a meaningful reward.
For 1600? I completely disagree. 1600 is pretty achievable actually. It’s pretty average. Maybe slightly above average.
Well we can agree to disagree,
most of the professional wow streamers I have watched have discussed that they don’t like having the gear gap like it is, I think being skilled, earning rating and titles for your skill and game knowledge is reward enough,
It’s more rewarding to most players to beat another team in a close match of gear and skill than smashing someone with low gear, that’s what lower skill players enjoy in most cases.
also 1600 in 2v2 without someone on your team in max gear is very difficult without game knowledge and communication when you have gladiator players in full gear doing carries littering the bracket. Skill + gear = bad time for casuals.
but we all have our opinions.
Odd that you say this, considering you also say how challenging it is to even make it out of 1600.
If you think it’s that hard to get out of 1600, imagine how it is for 2400. I just don’t think a mount or title is rewarding enough.
Well, simply put, you really shouldn’t have to face off against more geared opponents unless you’re close and pushing a new gear cutoff. Everyone 2900+ has pretty much the game gear in my experience.
It’s more of a challenge due to gear gaps to get passed 1600.
I’m glad that’s your experience but down here in the 1400-1600 on my rogue at 208 ilvl with 33.5k hp, most of my games someone has 42k-45k.
While i understand the game has changed overall since the days in cata when i was better at playing, the gear gap allows for a difficult climb.
clearly at 2900 rating you are skilled at the game, have invested time to learn it.
it’s fair you would want others to do the same instead of receiving hand outs, but we live in a different world now, if you are a good player, what would it really matter to you if a 1600 rated player had the same gear, would you not still crush them? obviously you would.
Not sure how long you have played but the pvp participation is at the lowest it’s ever been, in the past they locked a couple things behind rating like shoulders and elite sets, but not almost complete tier difference ilvls.
bringing back elite gear and other rewards for higher rating players would be better for the games health than having better players have a gear and skill advantage.
There’s not a huge gear gap though. 1400-1599 gives you 207 gear. 1600-1799 gives you 213. The biggest gear grap that you’ll ever have to realistically deal with is 5 iLVLs between the different gear cutoffs.
Really? This wasn’t my experience at all with my newest alt. Maybe you just got a string of bad luck.
No, the game is healthy when people are incentivized to grind and play well. Which is why Shadowlands has been so successful.
Not all I was watching a streamer (not gonna say his name) saying he didn’t want scaling because he didn’t want fair fights… no joke HE DIDNT WANT FAIR FIGHTS that’s just pathetic.
with that being said, I’m out.
