These are terrible and it’s time we get a new way to catch up on gear. For example yesterday I needed about 10 pieces of gear and I opened 3 boxes and they were just duplicates of the very little gear I have.
Conquest gains still seem a bit low for dps for what the differential is from honor to conquest strength.
I think maybe spoils of war should have a higher conquest increase? Or even better yet a chance to drop extra conquest from the random boxes you get from completing a battleground.
Sorry I am not crate farming for hours for 60 conquest per zone.
pvpers don’t like gearing for pvp, but the pve side of the game is an ilvl treadmill and for the average player ilvl = power. so pvers think pvpers gear to get better at pvp and most if not all of the devs are pvers.
idk, its pretty fun to play an alt in honor gear and stomp certain egos, it really makes you realize some people couldn’t handle your main even if you were afk for the fight.
Gear is placebo at this point imo. People live in the past where conquest gear was harder to get and class balance relied on sustained throughput. Nowadays full conquest doesn’t mean anything and fights are decided by cooldowns and comps.
We’re kind of back in the template land, just this time we can pick stats through almost free gear and it’s a bit time gated.
Maybe if you’re talking about at a minimum full honor gear or somewhere in between honor and full conquest and in low to medium difficulty games
If you aren’t in PvP gear or get into the big/ hard games it’s extremely noticeable - these are the two extremes that matter, not so much the in between. I don’t want to play with people that have 3 mil hp on my team and I don’t want to struggle in hard games because of my gear, it should be about skill
That’s for people who keep up with their gear throughout the season. Alts have it easier, but new players/people joining the season late stand no chance. They’re just going into a BG as a walking one shot
If they are intent on keeping gear I wish there would be a minimum ilvl that boosts players ilvl. It’s PvP, gear really shouldn’t matter. At least not as much as it does
And I say this as someone who generally plays fully geared characters throughout the season, gearing every season only takes away from the fun of the community in general
I don’t even remember the last time i queued non-rated play and hate this idea. In fact, I’d rather see the opposite, shut down queue syncing add-ons and buff conquest in non-rated play 500%. Rated game modes feed off of a successful non-rated game mode. In almost every case rated play is less than 10% and non-rated play is 90%~, arenas and bgb would benefit from increasing non-rated play considerably, so we should encourage a fun, robust, and fair non-rated environment if we want rated to thrive.
I queued into Horde BG and there was an alliance paladin with 3m hp defending their LH and it was the easiest win ever.
I laugh each time someone tries to say we need to stomp people who need to ‘work’ for their gear and most of these PvP’ers came post Legion/SL and never pvp’ed in TBC or wrath in those honor and conquest grinds.
Raising the gear floor to having a fighting chance in instanced PvP and having 1 honor set for whole season to not have to pick and choose a healer or DPS weapon/embellishments/enchantments/heraldries in a time gate would drastically smooth the PvP process.
Let people play. Let them enjoy. Let them stay in a competitive environment.
Having a bunch of geared noobs keeping non-rated queues rolling will not hurt your high rating.
Sorry, yeah I garbled my point. Basically what I meant is that people want gear, but the fact that it’s easy to get gear kinda defeats the purpose of it. If everyone can just crate farm and get geared fast, it just becomes a noob trap not to be geared, and no longer a reward.
It’s good from the point of view of fairness, but at that point might as well bring customizable templates. In the current form the process of getting gear is a symbolism and a homage to the RPG tropes at best.
Ah yep 100%. When gear had an rng factor like vault, tertiary stats, titan forging, corruption etc there was a sense of gearing like you do in PvE.
People didn’t like it, rng isn’t fun in PvP. So they gave us PvP gear without rng which is a huge step up, but now there’s no real sense of gearing. It’s just grind currency for a template. Why not skip the grind for a template and just give us the template and like you said: let us customize stats. At least this way people don’t actually enter BGs undergeared, they just won’t be optimized
I’m glad that they got rid of the vault and most of the PvE shenanigans tbh. I do sometimes cherish the memories of MoP when playing a full conquest main still meant something, but then I remember that with my current limited game time I’d be one of those honor geared noobs at best.
