This was the case with the Honor System at the end of Legion. They ruined it IMO - Basically they said “We want Honor to be account-wide” and instead of WAITING till next expansion or patch, They just merged everyones Honor who played alts during the whole Legion. So that is why some ppl may see Honor level 300-400. A small amount of people actually GOT that at the end of Legion depending on how hardcore they were with PvP’ing on alts.
TL;dr - They did the same with Honor, They merged everyones Honor who played alts before the next patch or expansion, inflating peoples levels to 300+. I got max Prestige on 1 character and it brought me to 125 - Just poor decisions for both of what we’re talking about. Should of waited
maybe not but that’s not the issue its the fact a raid mechanic that limit had already beaten while method was still struggling with Blizzard took it upon themselves to choose that moment to adjust it and method took advantage of that and miraculously pulled off a victory
its not a question of method and limits ability the issue here is Blizzards integrity and the timing of that hotfix
if neither had yet pulled off a victory before Tuesday Blizzard should’ve simply waited until the weekly shutdown THEN fixed and adjusted it accordingly but no they directly manipulated the outcome by doing it during the actual attempt
whether or not limit or method were the ones behind in this race is irrelevant if limit had won under these circumstance I would still voice my opinion opposed to the manner in how they earned it
there is a cloud of doubt hanging over this particular worlds first win and it should be thoroughly looked into
Method could have easily changed their strat to a short term solution that had no chance of winning the fight. Method was focusing on the long game. Limit was focusing on the short.
If LImit would have won, would you have complained it was unfair to Method because Limit had a head start?
So you would ignore that in every single world first race that every NA guild gets a head start?
You also realize that EU and NA don’t have the same exact weekly reset…right? So if they waited until the weekly reset, it would give Limit…once again…like a what, just under a full day advantage?
But Limit didn’t make it through ‘just fine’. To meet the 2 min add enrage timer they had to take too many stacks of the health debuff which was what caused them to wipe in P4 every time… Limit could not win that way, they needed the nerf just as much as Method.
Also the nerf came through at the end of the day for Method. Limit spent all night pulling post nerf.
I can’t really get excited for this whole world first thing. It’s kind of like English football where there’s only five clubs that even have a chance of winning barring an absolute miracle occurring, except it’s even worst in WoW’s case since Limit is the only guild that even poses a threat to Method. It’s pretty much always Method doing it first, Limit second, then Literally Who from third on. Not all that exciting when there’s only two guilds worth caring about.
yeah and this kind of nerfing in mid run by Blizzard only made it worse I mean when you have 2 guilds running for the goal that’s one thing but they’ve pretty much guaranteed that theres no chance for one side to lose
they should’ve waited until the weekly shutdown for maintenance before making this adjustment rather than jumping the gun and directly handing method an advantage
Blizzard practically gift wrapped the worlds first and handed it to them on a silver platter
You arent necessarily wrong, but another problem arises when you wait too long to implement a hotfix.
Say there is a wall that nobody can get past, and blizz waits for reset. Method and limit are working on said wall and making no progress.
By monday, piecez, 4 chinese guilds, and 10 EU guilds reach the wall and stop.
On tuesday reset, you now have a 17 man race instead of a 2 man race.
It becomes unfair in another way.
All im saying is there are pros and cons in waiting for nerfs and applying hotfixes faster. Let’s not lose our minds and scream blizzard bias or other such nonsense.
In my opinion limit killed the boss with an inferior strat, and their execution was an insane accomplishment. Just look at all the method guys saying limit wouldnt kill this reset with their strat…
Bravo to both guilds, it was a great race, both teams should be proud.
That is way above my pay grade homie, and I suspect it is well beyond yours as well.
Let us, as normal people, just congratulate the hard work these teams accomplished; and not speculate on design decisions we have no business speculating on.
so a healthy competition is now unfair? no unfair was Blizzard picking the exact moment that one of the two got stuck on a raid mechanic that obviously didn’t hinder the other and proceed to modify it in the middle of them competing against the other basically handing method the worlds first achievement
I could care less which of them pulled it off however and neither should Blizzard they should’ve merely waited and let things unfold as it was
even if method was in the lead and this nerf was applied and it handed the kill to limit it wouldn’t change my opinion of this I would still speak up in protest as to how this matter was handled it seems Blizzard effectively ensured method the victory
Weekly shut down happens at different times for NA and EU. Waiting until shut down would have given NA guilds a day advantage on it. There really is no fair time to do something like that.
maybe not but its quite an odd coincidence that they seemingly picked a moment when method was behind and it gave them the perfect chance to catch up when the very thing that held them back was not a hinderance to limit so in effect Blizzard pretty much guaranteed method a victory
