I mean I would find it frustrating if we needed professions now to make the gold to get flying. It would be infuriating. I’m okay with Pathfinder, it’s free and you don’t need to work too hard for it.
I mean, you could just take a break. I’ve played since Vanilla and took a break from about mid-Cata to just before Mists was wrapping up. I was completely burnt out and just logging in out of habit more than enjoyment. Came back in time for the back end of Mists and launch of WoD, and despite not caring for WoD much as an expansion, I started having fun with the game again and am still enjoying myself despite BfA being a “controversial” expansion.
Take a break, try some other games. I know people make fun of devs when they say that kind of thing but as “just some dude”, it’s true. Variety is the spice of life, and time away can help you cleanse out your frustrations with the game and come to enjoy it in a different context.
Personally don’t see why. Making gold should be a part of the MMO experience. Right now there’s not much of a good reason to entertain the idea of professions.
Because you’d have to do it for ALL of your characters, as a first note, and it’s not as easy as just completing world quests, your gold should be funneled into getting flasks and food for content, not flying.
With pathfinder, if you’ve been playing for a while and do your daily emmisary you should be good to go for all your characters. And it’s free.
So then the fix should be if you have it for 1 character you have it for all of them. And I ignored my professions and still had money for purchasing flasks and food while Mythic raiding. Again, as it stands there really isn’t a solid reason for professions.
And let me also add that if you had cool friends, they would lend you gold for purchasing flight. Nobody on your friends list is gonna do all of the things listed for Pathfinder with you to get flying.
Well I need alchemy for my Greater flasks of the undertow and pots of unbridled fury, I need cooking for my boralus blood sausages, I need fishing to help the guild make feasts. I need herbalism to do the alchemy.
And none of these things were an issue for me to get with buying them in the AH while not even touching my professions.
Really? Then you are hardcore my friend, all of the things I listed in the AH would add up to like 20k gold a week at the AH. At least in Moon Guard anyway.
I’d argue that I’m not really that hardcore. But that’s in the eye of the beholder kind of thing.
There’s different ways to be hardcore, you can be a literal hardcore farmer. Unless you’re actually not that hardcore and just buy gold from websites. OR sell runs or whatever. I’m not discussing this further, pathfinder is free and account wide, and if you wanna leave the game over it, you do you man.
I’ve already left during Uldir progression. I popped in with our 2nd raid team when they did that brief free WoW to see if things had gotten better and it didn’t. So it seems that I’ve been pushed to Classic if I want to enjoy what I perceive to be a proper MMORPG experience under the WoW license.
~ And classic has 0 flying! ~
And I’m okay with that because the world was built with no flying. When BC comes out, there will be flying. And I won’t have to partake in what I perceive to be a boring grind that wants to make me tear the hair right off my head.
Dang, Olli, stop trying to tell people to quit. You’re not my real dad.
But, seriously. The reason people aren’t progressing in the way you want them to is they gate content with what some people find very unenjoyable grinds so they never get to the stage where they can run the fun content. If you and some others like it that’s fine, but I think you should do you and let other people do what they want.
If people want to use their game time to complain on the forums, since you’re not a moderator, it’s not your job to try and shut down their discussion. If they break the rules, report them. Otherwise give your point of view and stop trying to make it personal.
I’m not telling anyone to quit, people are telling me they’re quitting. Why would I want people to quit?
I’m actually keeping this thread alive, first of all, and second I’m not telling them how to progress, I’m only suggesting they actually do content before they run to to forums threatening to quit like we care.
As a frame of reference, only your guildies and friends care if you quit, but forum dwellers like me? We care about why you quit.
That’s (mostly) fair.
I’m sorry but I’m just really sick of having to do Pathfinder and it’s frustrating because flying is such an important feature of this game, that not having it/being unwilling to unlock it essentially means just don’t even bother playing WoW. I’d be a lot more pleasant if Blizzard just reversed their course on this stupid stance about flying, but I have yet to see them even mention anything about it ever since Pathfinder was implemented. It’s quite literally made the game unplayable for me.
I had my complaints about WoW in the past, like I really hated having so many dailies to do in MoP, but I just dealt with it and kept playing because the rest of the game was fine. This is unfortunately not the case, this is the only time in my history of playing WoW that I’ve ever encountered a problem with the game that quite literally made the game not even worth playing for me anymore.
Tell us something we don’t know.
In fact, the prevailing response to Pathfinder being announced was:
“Well that’s nice I guess, at least Blizzard isn’t 100% taking flight away from us like they said they were going to do”
That’s essentially the most positive reaction it got. Now here we are, 2-3 expansions later, and people tried doing Pathfinder, don’t like it, especially the waiting a year for it part, and want Blizzard to make changes to it, and it falls on completely deaf ears and we haven’t heard anything about it since. There is literally a thread on these forums every day with 100-200+ likes about it, and yet, nothing from Blizzard.
Seriously at this point I just wonder, what are they even doing? What is the plan here? I’d like to have some faith in the WoW devs on this, but I legitimately can’t come up with any reasons for why they are doing this. It makes 0 sense to me.
But Pathfinder is a no-think-about thing. You play the game, do the WQs and storyline and mission table sometimes and it just gets done. You don’t have to group up, you don’t have to be specifically geared, you don’t need to do anything other than just play the game.
If you’re feeling that way, you’re obviously burnt out. Don’t complain - go do something else. They’re not changing Pathfinder now, mid-xpac. They may do something different next time or maybe not. I’m perfectly fine with this system since all my alts can fly while leveling. It’s a worthwhile endeavor for me.
