Stop pretending there are no era players.
FIRST, those useless last patches for era: 1)broke our addons
2)bugged Naxx(interaction with gargoyle caused the game to crush for the whole raid)
3) caused bugs to BG’s ( horde had to fight horde in WSG- only 1 side could win cause of the flag room)
SECONDLY, they are killing Era forums by mixing it with general classic forum- we need a separate forums for ERA
THIRD, they merged SoM and Era clients:
- there are will be more bugs in Era due to SoM’s future patches
- are they planning to have a paid option to transfer SoM chars to Era? That would be unfair as those are two different games now

Multiplayer games are only fun with other people. You can be right and alone, or just get over your pixels and roll fresh SoM.
Your choice.

I am not alone. We have 5-6 guilds in Americas region only with 2 guilds cleaning Naxx. We have healthy community and since bots, boosters and gold sellers are gone, the game is more true to itself compared to the last two years…

This is a good point, I think, and I feel for the Classic Era community. It doesn’t seem to get much love as its own thing.

Yea, Classic Era is basically Vanilla Wow- the game that was promised to me and many others 3 years. I am fine with them developing new games around it to satisfy other players.
I just want Blizzard to not forget about their original promise and keep Era separate as it is like they do with D2, WC3 reforged, sc2…
There are a decent amount of players who will play Era instead of new releases cause they simply like it better!

u right man, there is about 300 players playing som. Combined US/EU and Asia… its poppin mad…
Stopped reading after this btw.
Era is a graveyard, just accept it.
It doesn’t matter how many people playing it even. It is a separate game which deserves a separe forum/game client and this is original version of WoW which millions wanted and played and some are still playing

You said, “stop pretending there are no era players”… i mean you are right, some people play it… but u know… any EA steam game that launches on a daily basis probably has more players than era.
I agree, it is seperate and it should have its own forum
No it isn’t. Its a hack job of original vanilla at best. Its so bad, some Pserver versions made a better version of the original game, and they recreated that via youtube videos.
And yet not enough. Sorry to burst your bubble. The sad fact of reality is that Lizzard knew it would be dead, when they released it. They did not even bother to release a blue post explaining details on how the honor system would work on connected servers.
Era is dead, will always stay dead, and just cause you can manage to get one naxx raid going during peak time once a week does not mean its gonna be alive anytime soon or the community will grow.
but it seems like you are complaining about a possible character merge?
why segment a bunch of classic raiders from each other?.. they will have to work harder than you for their purple pixels anyway…
diablo2 is a good example… season characters become non-season characters… next season
the alternative you propose is a slow death of small segmented communities…
so like I said, you can be right and alone, or play well with others /shrug
Well, my main point ERA should be treated separately from SoM and other versions and you just agreed. Which is good!
All other points you made i disagree and can argue all day but they are minor to me.
Though, i would say that pretty sure that TBC after Sunwell will be more dead than ERA now. Moreover, after Sunwell bunch of players will return so ERA’s playerbase will actually increase in the long run!
So you atleast understand that ERA is dead. Thats good.
Nah bro, nobody is gonna return to a server where everyone is bis geared and the only form of entertainment is farming raids that provide nothing to most people anymore.
Example with D2 i am pretty sure is not relevant as each season doesn’t have a game changes like the ones in SoM
Ok. Let’s fix the statement. “There is no statistically significant amount of era players.” There we go.
No one cares about era. It can rot for all I care.

Lol, what are the forms of entertainment will be left in TBC after Sunwell?
TBCC is gonna die with Lich king as well… possibly worse than classic era, but what does it matter either way. Deadservers be dead.
I don’t care what you think but we pay money to play ERA ok? So, we want ERA TO BE INTACT OF OTHER RETAIL versions of this game

From a Software Development perspective, I think it actually makes sense to consolidate the clients. Maintaining several streams of your product becomes increasingly complex and expensive to maintain.
Having said that, it’s super important to ensure you support your use cases. I got hit by the addon breakage as well in CE and it really sucks. I didn’t even know about the other issues (I’m a super casual CE player at this point, but I fully support its continued existence).
I don’t think TBC/CE/SoM need to be in conflict with each other, but it does sound like some care is warranted to ensure that the user experience for each flavour is preserved as much as possible.

If they could actually manage games being on the merged client and not to break after patch updates of other game in the same client , it would be fine.
However, in a current reality of the small cubicle office full with interns i don’t see that happening
Yeah you and the 10 others who play era. Lmao
I’ll agree that from a software development perspective, shared resources makes things much more convenient. The flaw to this, which is the OP’s original point, is that: your blast radius is shared and resource constraints/contentions are shared.
From an infrastructure engineering standpoint, it’s a nightmare to get any significant maintenance scheduled let alone completed in a timely manner. If you need to rollback for any reason, everything including timelines get impacted.
