It’s probably because if they do wotlk era the cata server will be even more dead than it already will be. If the classic players were spread between classic era, new season, hardcore, wotlk era. Cataclysm would quite literally be DoA with like 2 servers max.

The classic decs seem to hate the most popular version of WoW. They’ve been actively sabotaging Wrath classic with changes since it launched.
