I think they’re already here, have been for longer than our species have most probably and they live in places we can’t access, like underwater caverns, places like that.
I also don’t think they find us particularly interesting but I could be wrong.

All kidding aside all they would have to do is set off a giant EMP from space and just sit and wait. We would at that point revert to the dark ages and it would be complete pandemonium. We would destroy ourselves.

Not exactly. We have sent messages into space going back 20 years ago and have grown technologically in that time. Not to mention by the time we would recieve said message as we haven’t already would mean it would be approximately (since we become able to receive radio messaging) 80 plus light years to reach us. Meaning that civilisation doesn’t exist anymore.

What the messages mean matters little. Extragalactic invaders is just the excuse I needed to justify my forced unification of the galaxy.
No cause that doesn’t make sense either. Look at the next closest being of intelligence om thr planet to us. Primates but even the smartest of them can only perform menial tasks that our children can do. We don’t look at primates as equals or even a threat. So a more intelligent species would look at a lower the same as we look at primates. We could roll out our smartest and they would be like cute our toddlers do that and ignore our species

So fun fact as biologist. A very popular theory in our field that has been going on for a while now does agree with alien life being here but not how you stated. Virus’s, now every living thing on this planet has certain markers in its biology and dna except for Virus’s. By all biological metrics they are not alive but we know they are as the breed, evolve, spread and die. So the idea is Virus’s came from elsewhere and could actually survive a meteor entering our atmosphere and the depths of space.
