Concerned that prestige or "flex" items are being devalued by Blizzard

Mythic raid lockouts should be removed after the end of the expansion.

I got the same mentality when it comes to legendaries they pulled entire quest chains out to remove mop was gutted with cloaks removed wod with rings.

And anyone who has been higher up knows you get crap if you’re not current. “Oh, you were a glad two years ago during an inflated season? Git gud scrub!” (even tho it wasn’t an inflated season) just giving a random example. I agree with you 100%

That blows. I am sorry to hear it and hope you feel better soon. If it’s upper respiratory illness, get a hot steam vaporizor with vicks/camphor liquid and put it next to you. OMG, it really helps.

Thank you. I’m sitting here smoking a cig as I cough. Big brain!

You’re doing a terrible job that guys been revived like 7 times.

Well, when one is sick, it’s no time to get rid of the nicotine. /grin

Still. Steam. I’m telling you, the mothers of the world who walked around wielding a jar of Vicks were right.

Silly status symbols should remain relevant forever. It’s a SLAP IN THE FACE when I pull out my ultra thin Moto Razr flip phone from like 2005 and jerks try to pretend like they’re not impressed!

Your time with WoW only has meaning to you because you assign it meaning, not because you have a rare item. And it will only cease to have meaning if you decide it no longer does. Blizzard or no one else can do that for you.

Well blizz can at anytime via tos.

If you been playing since launch I’m surprised you haven’t grown up yet and realized that its just pixels that mean nothing to nobody. Literally nobody cares what items you have.

Exactly, so no sense in bringing back stuff that people don’t care about.

I didn’t say they don’t care about it, I just said they don’t care that YOU have it.

Is there really any meaningful prestige in an item you only have because you happened to be playing at the right time? Tyrael’s Charger is probably one of the worst examples of a “flex” item that anyone could give. I have it and all I did was agree to keep paying for the game for a year that I was going to be subbed to anyway. Congratulations to me and my accomplishments I guess? Other players should be in awe of my hard-earned mount.

I’ve honestly never understood the mentality behind wanting prestigious or flex items or whatever you want to call them, just for the sake of showing them off. Sounds shallow to me. I earn or buy things because I like them. If a stranger is impressed, great I suppose, but I didn’t do it for them or their opinion. And I couldn’t possibly care less if someone else can get the same “exclusive” things I have later on.

I’m always under the impression that people who make these threads don’t even use the thing they’re fussing about. They probably forgot they even had it. They just don’t want someone else to have it. Like a kid who gets upset when someone else digs up one of their long-buried toys and tries to play with it.

Honestly the only thing that somewhat impresses me is Rhok’delar… That person is usually a real OG and did the crazy quest chain to get it. But then I think “oh cool a Rhok’delar” and then I go about my business.

I earned the Shaman, Druid and Priest set. I don’t care if they make them available. TBH I want the other classes that I didn’t have time to get lol

By that definition, nothing has any value, ever.

I mean, how many of us had more time to play WoW when we were younger, in school or college? Being able to go after cool stuff, being there was certain events and the like were ACTUALLY happening?

I mean, consider you have a favorite band; you go to one of their shows, and you get a cool show specific to that tour. It’s not about “running peoples’ nose in it” that you have a cool shirt or not, but it’s kind of like proof you did that thing. It’s something that might spark an interest from someone else.

I mean, have any of you guys never whispered someone who had a super rare item? Hell, I whispered a dude a couple of months ago who I happened to see rocking the OG Corrupted Ashbringer and Warrior T3; the latter you can obviously get from BMAH, but the OG Corrupted Ashbringer, there’s very much symbolic of a time and a place.

I’ve had people whisper me in the past, saying how cool Mini-Diablo is, or asking where I got Mini-Tyrael. Things like that, to me, are what MAKE an MMO. Otherwise, it would just be a single-player RPG. There’d be no point in collecting anything; it feels worthwhile, because it’s stuff you get to share with the community around.

They’re exclusive items. “Prestige” and “Flex” are terms largely used by the group that wants to homogenize the game and deprive everyone of anything remotely rare or unobtainable under the rubric that anything ever added that is now unavailable is “FOMO”. That’s how narratives work; they reduce everything into a simple, contextless “evil” that everyone must acknowledge, obsess over, and “fight” (even when that “fight” involves creating a mirror form of evil - but I digress into real-world matters).

There are items that were exclusive for promotional purposes, and Blizzard was restricted through legal and/or third-party agreements from re-introducing them. Some of those things may no longer be restricted, and Blizzard may choose to reintroduce them. I would expect we’ll continue to see a variety of old promotional items become available again. Reintroduction of the MOP items through some means has always been a possibility.

Gladiator mounts and original Mage Tower appearances won’t be returning.

Blizzard would serve themselves and most players (you can’t reason with or zealots or keep them pleased) by introducing new expansion-limited challenge appearances. There’s a limited supply of old exclusive items to reintroduce.
