Concept of allied races is bad

Because it’s a dumb example of old content requiring you to earn your trust with those within your faction even though none of the characters were time gated behind rep. Just because it has the world classic does not mean it has no relevance in a WOW general forum.

Yeah dude, those races advertised during blizzcon that players were to be expected to be playable when the content released.

It does. One is fifteen years old, and represents old, outdated design.

Oh, another case of entitled consumers. You still got them, just on a delay. That is all. There was no drop in item quality, these weren’t fallout 76 nylon bags. They simply got pushed back, both for development time and story reasons.

Thing about that is, you already basically get a lore dump on them through the course of unlocking them. Possible exceptions being Mag’har and Void elves. But the first were heavily featured in a previous expansion (2 if you count their involvement in TBC), and the second have very little to explain outside of the quests you do with Alleria following you around.

Entitled? Yeah man, i’m entitled for EXPECTING content advertised as one of the selling points of the expansion not being available until MONTHS into the expansion. It’s obvious you will excuse anything from blizzard. What’s that one word again?

Your magical buzzword that means you have no argument anymore? Shill was it?

In any event, this is real life, people are involved in the creation process, stuff happens. You got them all the same, just on a delay. It’s best not to let these sorts of things get to your head. If you were so upset by it, you’d speak with your wallet. You’re entirely hung up on things that have already happened.

I also don’t like being forced to earn rewards. I’d rather have everything handed to me on a silver platter.

Yeah, I definitely see the point there. Don’t want to overdue it, just a thought to make things a little more unique and interesting for leveling an allied race.

It’s just an easy thing to design that they can pass off as content by making people grind them out. Like pathfinder, really.

Don’t feel like putting in the work, eh

I think what you’re suggesting would be more appropriate if they were to ever introduce a completely new race to the game. Or at least a race that the player hasn’t had much interaction with outside of occasionally talking to or fighting. It’s a good idea, though.

Here is my KT. I have maghar unlocked as well. I can unlock others when ever I want I have the rep for them. Just don’t care for it.

Still think it’s a stupid game design.

Level a toon you don’t wanna play just level again as a race you wanted to play.

It’s stupid

AR’s and HA are simply a cash grab, nothing more.

I like them; I feel more attached to them after completing their questlines, both the ones in their zones and the unlock- I appreciated them and got to know their story and what drives them as a people better. I love Kul Tirans, but I doubt I would have ever picked one from the screen if it was just an alternate fat skin for regular Stormwind humans.

yes, they are.

The “allied” part should make that fairly apparent.

you asked about THIS tauren.
…not the tauren race.

I and I know others have said it as well, all the gating does is add to time played metrics. If they were available from the get go players returning for allied races could start a character they want to play, rather than slog through the grind on a character they don’t care about just to unlock and start playing a character they will enjoy and want to play.

It could have been a great way to bring players back by giving them more options, but Blizzard squandered it for time played metrics.

After all didn’t one of the developers say your character is how you experience the game, so why restrict it.

New player here (well a few months I think counts?), I initially joined because I wanted to play Void Elves.

I did end up unlocking them but by that time since I had so much Argussian rep and Army of the Light rep I was kinda tired of them by that point.

But from this perspective I would say it is a good thing because I actually learned how to play before enjoy the ‘extras’ of this game.

Won’t deny that actually understanding the Argus guide was a pain in the butt, at the time I did not know what invasion points or a class hall was.

No, they aren’t. And just putting adjectives in front of names doesn’t necessarily change anything. edit: Is the “big” sword better than the “little” sword? Yes. But is the “blue” sword better than the “gold” sword? NO. You’re just being stubborn to say otherwise (and we know … we know… ) Look at all the recolors of things we have in this game. A blue sword isn’t functionally any different than a gold sword. You can argue all you want about how you LIKE blue more than gold, and that’s fine, but the important FUNCTIONAL part of them is not any different.

A Warrior is a Warrior is a Warrior is a Warrior. The ARs are just a lame dynamic to push MAUs. Anyone that doesn’t seem this is deluding themselves.

And again, you can ENJOY the drawn out nonsense that is “unlocking” them. But don’t push this pedantic argument that a cosmetic change is a FUNCTIONAL change. Take some time to learn the difference.

i don’t recall having said that.

…i simply claimed that you don’t seem to understand the concept of “allied”.

Allied races are considered content…

Most of them were designed with different looks and different racials than the original races.

These were designed to be unlocked through playing different aspects of the game.

Its fun to bold random words.

Highly debatable. Shadowmeld is incredibly op for mythics dungeons there is no denying that.

Heck even the allied races have some useful racials. Like void elves not having their casting slowed, the loa buffs, the dark iron cleanse and damage boost, etc…

The real blind ones are the people who think everything blizzard does is just for MaU and can’t accept a feature for what it is.
