Concept of allied races is bad

There should not be races that are locked behind quests and rep. It’s a bad game design.

All allied races should have been added just like any other race with their intro quest at level 1-10 or what ever.

Nah, they should have been customization options for their parent races.

Blizzard usually take the laziest, yet somehow most convoluted ways to do something that it’s become asinine at this point.

THIS is why I say they should abandon WoW and just get to work on Warcraft 4!

I hate to grind for zandalari now.

I’m pretty sure they’ll wind up on the cash shop sooner or later, like so many other MMOs have done with their “new” races.

why?

…because you’re expected to actually earn something?

wait till you get with a spouse and end up with honey do lists

Never really felt it was an issue (unlocked all alliance races). Where exactly is the problem?

I don’t necessarily care that there is rep to get them. I mean that idea at least makes sense to me. Or even that they have rep and a small quest chain.

What I think is dumb is how those quest chains are so different in terms or length and challenge in some cases between the allied races.

Damn, how much did you work towards to play that tauren?

If you don’t mind could you elaborate on the quest chains? I only know from the alliance side but they seemed pretty similar in terms of challenge.

back in the “olden days” when this character was created, you couldn’t just buy the game and create a death knight like you can today.

…your attempt at comparison failed.

Nah. I’m too good to share the same character selection screen as you.

I don’t get people who complain about the allied race ‘grind’. They’re not core-races, they’re meant to be people that you earn the allegiance of. You’re getting an achievement that unlocks unique customization options, how is that any different than a meta-achievement mount?

The ‘grind’ for them anyhow is pathetic.

The bottom line is that Blizzard can’t create content faster than players can consume it. Players don’t really care if they consume the content too quickly, until they do so, then they unsub out of boredom. To prevent that from happening, Blizz needs inexpensive means of getting players to have something to work towards, until they have more content ready.

In a world where we can boost to lvl 110, skip every major patch via catchup gear, and complete the endgame with an easy queue time, Blizz is hard pressed to give players something to do after they’ve pretty much beaten the game. That’s where grinds and timegates come from and why they’re not going away.

No, yours did.

The DK was given to us as a “hero” class (their words, not mine). It was DESIGNED to be something that was unlocked once you had a max-level chr.

The DK was DIFFERENT. It was a NEW CLASS.

AR are NOT DIFFERENT. A Highmountain Warrior is exactly the same as an Tauren Warrior. They even have the same /dance animations. They only thing that’s different are antlers instead of horns-- and we could have done such a simple thing in the barber shop. It is nothing but cosmetic.

And Racials don’t matter. Did Method or the like use Racials in ONE OR TWO world firsts? We know they did, and guess what? YOU’RE NOT METHOD. The 0.00004% benefit Racials may OR MAY NOT provide has no bearing on a “normal” player. And be honest, they would have beaten whatever encounter without those Racials anyway. It’s a lost argument (but that’s ok, I know you’ll make it).

If you can’t see through the thinnest veil in recent memory that ARs are nothing but a ruse to push the MAU, you’re blind. And trying to compare DKs to ARs really proves that assertion.

This thread is about races not classes. Anyone can play tauren.

I disagree. I don’t think the concept is bad, just the way they’ve handled it. So far the allied “races” have just been glorified race customization’s. I’ll be more enthusiastic when the allied races are actually new races. That’s one of the reasons I’m so hoping for Vulpera. Finally an actual new race as an allied race and that’s why I’m dreading the threat of mecha-gnomes being their Alliance counterpart.

That should be there for the base races. Kultirans are just fat humans. The fact that they’re time gated is also ridiculous and it’s pretty much like any other time gated system in the game that wants to make you log in every day and stay subbed.

They shouldn’t even be considered new races. Void elfs? Purple blood elfs. Lightforged goats? Just shiny goats. Takes more effort to unlock them than it took blizzard to make them.

Except Allied Races get unique and thematic racials appropriate to them. They go beyond customizations.

You’re just a malnourished Kul-Tiran.

It’s been a thing since TBC lad. Remember Netherwing? You’re just content averse, it only took me two weeks to get exalted with Proudmoore, and even less for the other factions.
