Competitive elements have ruined the game

With PVP you have to beg to get into rated groups or pay hundreds-of-thousands of gold for a carry. You have ruined PVP Blizzard. What used to be fun is now a part of this game that is run by mafia organizations.

you need to have, and enjoy the “ill roll whatever is fotm mentality”, to be okay with the way WoW is right now.

The issue is that…a MW Monk needs to work 500x harder than a Holy Pal does to get the same loot. Which is fine if you have the “ill roll whatever spec is fotm” mentality. If you dont have that mentality, it isnt fine.

Ion would never push for this.

which is ironic because many of them are so much worse on their latest fotm reroll than they would be if they’d spent the same amount of time and energy just improving their skills on the specs they actually enjoy playing

Then at least we have identified the problem. Rating is stupid, especially making it required for upgrading PVP gear.

You mean a system that only existed in classic? Because bc had arena rating.

Maybe a community perception of one. All classes and specs are capable of doing at least up to 18s. Just dependent on the player.

This will always exist no matter what they do. Even in classic people still do it and there are very little requirements to kill things in classic.

Evidence?

I mean, real evidence. Because I firmly believe it pales in comparison with the total community of people who engage in any kind of video game, and that’s where the money is.

I mostly agree with your thought.
But I think having Arena rating and timers are fine.

The problem with the current system setup is that there’s not much progression outside of anything competitive. So the only way to get better gear is to conform and be competitive.

Take Classic for example, you can easily gear up in dungeons, pvp, raids, and even solo rep. PvP is the only real competitive option there, but not necessary. Gearing in raids is not bad either because there’s only 1 difficulty level and therefore 1 ilvl for that gear. So there’s no competition in having to perform at 100% effectiveness. Those that want to, can though.

You need evidence of how popular speedrunning is?

Mythic + :).

And it depends on the video game you’re taking about. Yeah I’d you’re talking about COD - sure speed-running isn’t popular. Because it doesn’t fit the dynamic as well (it’s pvp)

Then you look at games like Mario, zelda - there’s world records for games like that - also in the Guinness book of records.

It may be a cult type of following - but it’s extremely popular and fun. Evidence has been provided on how impactful speedrunning is in wow - mythic+, proposed torghast ladders, classic speedrunning of raids, etc.

I’m pretty sure your take is wrong and I can ask you for evidence supporting your claim too - but In This case - flips hair I know I’m right :face_with_hand_over_mouth::nerd_face:

EDIT: I almost forgot to mention - speedrunning is really popular in the Minecraft community as well. Minecraft is arguably just as popular as COD.

Yes! It encourages organized groups, communication between people, clean execution, everyone being prepared/knowledgeable, and everyone doing their part. All the worst!

How high can you gear through all the non-raid activities in classic? Because you can gear basically to normal raid level now through only solo play and have a 235 legendary, which seems better than what I remember being able to do back in the day.

It’s a bit different because there are no multiple difficulties.

But considering there is no queable PvE content, even just getting your dungeon blue sets requires pre-made group forming just like doing base mythic or mythic+.

And it goes item by item, but most dungeon blues are outclassed by a mix of MC/BWL epics (with a few outstanding).

For solo content? Almost nothing for PvE, and some decent rep/PvP blues if you have time to farm random BGs for many hours a week for months.

Everyone playing the same 5 things.

The elephant in the room is class balance… Blizzard is their own worst enemy by design.

Without competition, you might as well just delete the game. Without competition, there is nothing to work for in the game.

That’s a very Marxist perspective, btw.

Nope.

People keep looking at group make ups for like +25s and think it matters at their range. Or the game over all.

You’re delusional, it’s more like a mafia/cartel controlled environment in WoW now.

Not if you run in

M+ timers ARE the difficulty…
why do you people NOT understand this?

I, too, like to compare apples and a tennis ball.

No one was talking about ‘gamers in the world’.
