There’s a few RPers on the CC. I don’t know if they’ve made posts yet, but I do know they’re there. Not every council member has had time to make threads yet.
For real… talk about making a mountain out of a mole-hill
So let me get this straight… first of all, books are fictional/not even real… but then on top of that you’d have to be a pretty big nerd/no-lifer to maliciously “weave” this petty drama from an out-of-context forum post referring to said fictional book.
…and then on top of that he “only” started the whole drama/beef because he was jealous or butthurt that Maizou got picked over him for a spot on the Community Council?? Okay then…
The whole thing sounds absurd when you step back and look at it objectively/from a bird’s eye view
They need to make things more user friendly. People shouldn’t have to download a bunch of different addons to play the game. Seems the advice given to players is to download XYZ addon.
thats…
what im saying.
The addon community has made blizzard very lazy. It is similar to the modding community and bethesda.
I think a lot of them just don’t understand the lore. Trolls are in a caste system so having a Darkspear being illiterate is pretty normal. They injected some goofy, “white man teaching black kid how to read” garbage into it where it doesn’t exist.
We’ve touched on that in the accessibility for the deaf players thread, if I recall?
They need to make more things intuitive in game. Addons are great, but they should mostly be for cosmetic things or making life easier, like HandyNotes.
Deadly Boss Mods/Big Wigs feels like something taht should be in the main game. I might make a thread about it one day, but I feel like I’ve made too many threads lately, so it’ll be a bit. Lol.
Wouldn’t want to see a white man do anything good in fiction, would we?
I’m only bringing it up regarding why it was and remains difficult to believe the doxxing threats. There were previous false accusations, proven false. Along with prior claims that the doxxing threats were made in the forum thread. And of course, spin doctoring what I myself said here, along with the entire discussion before and after my posts.
As I said before, maybe it happened. I certainly never saw it in the twitter thread you later claimed it was in, and I was reading it shortly after it began. But I could have missed it, sure.
FWIW, I chalk everything up to a perception of being attacked, making things that might’ve been otherwise benign seem offensive, and trying to keep track of multiple people making multiple pooints against you making it hard to keep track of what exactly is being said. Not intentional misdirection, but accidental misunderstanding.
Nice backpeddle. Still waiting for “all accounts” to be shown. I’ll settle for “any accounts”.
But at least you think so highly of racists that they would never imply BIPOC cannot read. Or whatever it is you think you’re saying here.
why are people without the time to make posts on the CC though…
That’s not a backpeddle, rofl. Should I quote the original comment again for you to read? I mean clearly you have issues on the reading front.
At least overt racists are just that, overt, unlike you.
…the patch just came out and they’re playing?
Or they have jobs?
We’re on the Council for a year.
Anduin has been a goody two shoes for several expansions now and nobody cares…
or is he not a man in your eyes because he isn’t portrayed as a warrior on roids?
i appreciate you taking the time to interact with the community and checking what people think
I don’t think people should write fiction with the specific goal of avoiding the beliefs of racists. That’s just silly, most writers wouldn’t even know what racists believe because they aren’t racists. Most readers wouldn’t even pick up on those stereotypes because they don’t know them, because the readers aren’t racist. This is just a ridiculous thing to expect of the average writer.
I was making a joke based on the conversation about a book character. We aren’t talking about Anduin.
What posts have you made talking about the changes FOR other people… from what i see… you only made two posts in the CC. but replaied to a few others…
“By all accounts that isn’t a racist depiction anymore!”
“Uhm… Find a racist who thinks illiteracy is the problem?”
Yeah, it’s a backpeddle. A poor one, too, highlighting a complete misunderstanding of the discussion.
Like I said, I can’t prove it without doxxing them myself. But I also only intended to bring it up once until the twitter team decided to gaslight me and say it never happened.
And FWIW, as I told Rhielle last night, I’m always willing to talk things out with people. Just not in the Story Forum. A certain person ruined me going there ever again. Which is why I likely haven’t seen your posts, or anyone else who has posted there since I left. I’m not ignoring you. I just literally haven’t opened the Story Forum for like a month. (or whenever my last post in that thread was).
If you can’t find me in a thread like this, you are welcome to message me in-game. The first month or two of a patch, if I’m online, there’s a 90% chance I’m on Maizou. I’ve had a few people reach out and we’ve had a conversationa nd came to a mutual understanding.
I’m just saying…
if you’re going to sign up for the council, you should be posting regularly. it’s not supposed to be a shiny trophy.
CC members were not elected in any way. There was no vote.
The Community Mangers are the ones paid to collect broad feedback, compile the reports, and present it to the Devs. They get paid to do that. Volunteers on the CC are free to present the concepts they care about and have some personal knowledge about - or the specific community they are part of cares about. They are not supposed to replicate the role of the CMs.
Incorrect. The point of the CC is to have people with widely differing game interests who do express their opinion. They speak for themselves - given they are not elected by the community.
Because it is supposed to be a discussion between the CC members and Blizzard reps. Not the CC members, everyone else, and Blizzard. They intentionally selected a smaller group. Can you imagine the spam, trolling, and nonsense that would happen? Not to mention threads getting hundreds of posts long so that they are hard to dig through? Imagine you are trying to have a meeting - do you want 10 people or 1000 people who all talk over each other?
I get why that sucks because we have the General forums and they could post here instead if they wanted everyone with a sub to engage in the conversation.
If you want to address any of the topics on the CC forum though all you have to do is quote it and it sends a Notice to the poster. Many are happy to read what you have to say about their post and even engage with you to get your thoughts. There are quite a few threads on GD that have done that.
The members selected are members of the WoW Community. They are not the whole community. They could call it Players Council if they wanted and it would possibly be clearer that they are members of said group, not elected reps of said group.
Again, if you see gaps in topics feel free to say something - Blizz wants to have input on a huge range of things. Art, transmog, PvP, pet battles, collecting, casual play, raid encounters, you name it.
Pretty sure we have a few RP folks on there. It is not my thing but I saw some RP focused posts already.
