The council finally has the authority to TAKE Ion Hazzikostas, SIT HIM DOWN in a formal thread, and DEMAND to know if he has seen the Lion King

These must be in the bargaining agreement when Activision blizzard unionizes:

A) all employees must submit an answer of yes or no to the following questions:

have you seen the animated masterpiece “Disney’s The Lion King”.

You know if Saberon were playable we could have a Lion King RP server event

It’s honestly not that weird to me that there is no structure.

It has been clear to me from the beginning that this is largely going to function in a way that previous replies have covered: put some of the blame onto players that are part of the council and to further the philosophy of “well you don’t provide feedback well so we cannot act upon it.”

I am aware that there are blues and other employees at Blizzard who do want this to go well and hope that it may show their other coworkers what constructive, positive voices in the player base wish to say, highlight, and suggest. However, the lack of structure or input thus far means that it is unlikely to do well because of the group that will disregard good ideas as “not well thought out or typed up feedback, we need more information and what is provided is largely useless.”

Which to be fair is what happens when you put 100 random stranger pvp bros into a room and say “talk about whatever you want lol”

There’s a private Discord for the council members with a couple Blizz folk, one of the members posted about it in GD. It’s supposed to solely function as a way for Blizz to give direction and advice.

The fact the council forum is public but the important chatter is relegated to a private Discord puts a sour taste in my mouth that is difficult to put into words.

All the more reason why they should have invited WrA posters

“well we would have fixed the issue if we had clear feedback but honestly we couldn’t sit through a 1200 post thread which tangented 15 times and people who weren’t even on the council kept showing up in the thread somehow asking about technical support questions and the councilmembers just demanded to know about their RP character”

To be fair I think they emphasize they don’t want feedback or anything in there, just a tool to help give direction and give advice on dealing with the public. I can’t remember much beyond that and I don’t remember which thread it was in. I think the World First Race guy posted it.

I think this is argument for not inviting us.

I can put it into words, but I cannot put those words in this forum or I’ll get the ban hammer.

Trying to get two people in one reply for notifications on the new forums is puzzling to my old and tired brain so I hope this grabs both of you.

My point was largely that the Discord, external and private as it is, provides a sort of cloak to Blizzard and its interactions with the council that people cannot see as they would with the council forum.

I thank you for the clarity, Auhgag, but unfortunately I’m still a bit soured because to offer direction and advice on those topics would be just as good to offer on the public forum. Perhaps more the ‘giving direction’ part, as it would enable non-council members to see what the guidelines are for posts and so on.

I hope what I’m saying makes sense, I’ve had a long day.

as a reminder, there’s a good reason to still be skeptical of the community council lol

Favourite Disney movie. Not dared to watch the remake

That part actually doesn’t surprise me, since some are claiming that there were many other private discords and private forums already before this one.

One example—

Thank you so much

I think Blizz devs don’t comment much because they suffer from, for want of a better term, big-corporationalism.

Nobody has the power to make a unilateral decision. So when there’s a big feedback thread, in theory the community managers need to take that feedback to various departments and see if it’s viable, and if so WHEN it is viable, before they continue.

So until some of these decisions are made, what can the devs even do? They can comment "Thanks for your feedback! " But that’s superficial to the point of being meaningless. They can say “Wow that sounds like a good idea.” But what’s the point if it’s something that actually can’t be implemented? It’d just let people down and make them more angry. Presenting their own opinions probably wouldn’t be helpful because the whole reason the community council exists is because Blizz was so out of touch. And even if they did decide to implement a requested feature, player housing for example, would they really want to say so on a forum post? “Yep, we’ll do that!”. Nah, their publicity team would probably want to do it at Blizzcon or in some big announcement to maxmize hype.

So honestly, what are they to say? At least in these early days, there’s not a lot TO say. I guess we’ll see what happens.
