With the right technical skills you don’t even need a change of heart.
Kaladorei xenophobia
I can’t count the number of times when nelf RPers take this idea way too far.
Like the time I was in Stormwind on my human paladin and was attending a guild faire RP event and a few members of a nelf guild basically told me to “Go away human.” And basically hated on humans for like 15 mins lol.
Yes ofc the nelfs are a bit xenophobic but when in human cities… they don’t go ballistic when seeing a human. And in lore they don’t show outward aggression towards other races unless the person is a warlock or spriest or maybe a mage or DK.
Nelf RPers please tone down the xenophobia towards other Alliance races. Make it subtle and make it fun!
If your Nelf is that xenophobic they shouldn’t even be leaving Kaldorei lands tbh. Why go into settlements of people you don’t trust/like?
I think it must be new nelf RPers so they get a pass. But its a bit annoying lol and kinda boring. There is nowhere to go when someone starts hating on your race in a role play scene. Its going to get messy.
What are they? I am still not clear on their intended purpose. Also. Do we not kill the guy in charge of that place later on in the quest chain? It’s been a while since I ran through there.
The only thing I recall is using the Silver Shovel of Mercy to “save” the human seeds. I delivered alot of mercy, lemme-tell-ya.
I for one support taking down those who would cause more wanton war and entertain revanchist ideas.
We’ll start with the Alliance characters who aren’t Night Elves or Gilneans since I’ve seen a lot of mistreatment of Night Elves and Gilneans in RP from normal SWers the past month.
not gonna lie, you had me in the first half
You know, for as much blustering as people do about how they could write a better story, remember that a lot of Blizzard’s current staff are previous franchise fans now given official positions. And they have to answer to higher ups. I don’t exactly know where I’m going with this but like, everyone can talk about what ifs all they like, in the end we’re just a bunch of writer nerds being more nerdy with each other than the usual wow nerd.
I just wanna have fun, man.
On half that note I’m perfectly content with decrying their higher ups as soulless husks who exist only to milk this cow as far as it’s worth and I’m doubly content pointing out that regardless of how we got here, numerous elements of the wackiness and atrocities are on purpose and by design. I don’t know whether it’s worse that they think this is the way to drive the plot along, and / or that this is the drivel that will suck in the most brainless consumers and / or that WoW is still raking in absurd boatloads of money despite (or possibly still because) of this.
It’s harder for me to get behind the desire to punish the Horde these days because while it’s absolutely true that they are the favorites, it’s also absolutely that true being the favorites of really dumb people means your experiences end up being really dumb.
Also I’ve had a few puffs, so I’m not really that fighty now.
Fixed it to be more accurate since most Tauren, Troll, Blood Elf and Goblin players can attest.
I am all that is Horde!
As a both-faction-enjoyer this isn’t something I’d be into. Alliance deserves more of an identity than just being vigilant about the Horde. The Horde deserves more of an identity than being entirely nullified and whatever the heck Blizzard’s doing with them.
[laughs in Warcraft 3]
I remain mystified by people who–outside of tongue in cheek dark humor or moments of frustration–seriously want one faction or the other to just be dead and irrelevant. It’s wild.
I used to think people were being a bit absurd about it but it’s definitely a symptom of Blizzard’s design, intentional or not, that comes from almost… 17 years? Of Horde VS Alliance rather than ‘Horde AND Alliance’ in World of Warcraft.
Like if it were more “haha my football team and your football team” it’d be more bearable but now it’s just eyeroll aplenty of “one must devastate the other”.
Eh. It’s understandable. The problems are as glaring as Blizzard’s outright refusal to listen to them. So people take on more extreme positions just to be heard, then someone else responds and it just goes on and on because that’s easier than accepting that you’re pouring fifteen dollars a month into a gamehole.
I’m not a writer. I could not write a better story. If someone handed me the typewriter, I would turn this universe into Calvinball with party hats.
The only position I’d ever want on “Blizz Staff” is to be given unfettered access to the ‘items’ archive, so I could start pointing out what removed and / or never-accessible items they need to put back on loot tables and in-game.
There are so many amazing items that players cannot access, it’s criminal.
Norman if you could give me the Darkmoon Faire tabard you’re hired.
I just think it’s important to keep in perspective that the writing team is a cog in a bigger corporate machine, I guess is what I’m trying to say. Does it make the story any better? No. Legion shows modern WoW is definitely capable of a good story if given the proper care, but in the end, this is your (general your, not specifically you Norman) free time you’re spending worrying over contrived plots. It comes from a place of fondness, but always remember Blizzard is not fond of you in return, only your wallets. So take a step back now and then.
Prime example. It already exists in the game files. No good reason not to give it to us. DMF is a rep. Would make perfect sense to let us have the tabard to go with it.
I suppose it depends how much time one actually invests into being concerned/disappointed/angry over this plot/game. You can be disappointed, express it and yet not necessarily be all that invested in that disappointment other than occasional conversations.
Life as a whole is always about a healthy balance though.
Blizz just disappoints me when they don’t give me cool hats.
I haven’t done that zone in a literal decade ok
