Coming Later This Year: Shadowlands Season 4

blizzard is not a charity they are a for profit organization we pay for the expac and server access and also deal with cosmetics on store

i do understand employee strife but dont use that to whitewash everything

I can’t believe Grimrail is getting so many votes it’s going to be a “train wreck” as a mythic+ dungeon.

All the camera issues too.

I wish instead of adding only mega dungeons they mixed it up some. Most of the mega dungeons are not peoples favorites and i feel like blizzard has to know that.

Like where is Waycrest, Blackrook Hold, Theater of Pain… seems like a really odd choice to me.

Huge W imo. Especially for us new players who started the game this expansion. Having old dungeons as content let’s us explore that part of the game we missed out on and this whole systems seems like it’ll let us have fun while they keep working on 10.0 ensuring it is good

I have no opinion on the M+ topics, but Affix raids are legitimately one of the worst ideas I’ve heard of since it was suggested your RealID show with your posts on the forum.

Why on earth would I want to run an awful raid like Sanctum again, but this time with the added frustration of things like Tyrannical and Storming? Why would I want to re-prog on fights I already spent months doing and successfully completing? It’s exhausting to even think about. I’d rather have nothing so that dev time could be put into 10.0.

I don’t think I can adequately put into words just how much this news disappoints, and how dismal the future of raiding now looks to me.

Chill please, nobody cares or likes pvp…

Ya, this sounds fine to me; so many negative nancy’s that want to push back against them using season 4 an a sort of unofficial season/period to test some ideas. They have lots of content dead in the water, reusing it in some way is welcomed for me at least.

People can unsub too :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I just am unsure if they are including more dungeons or replacing it.

This is probably the copium speaking but if you’re going to do scaling difficulty, do you plan on fixing the number of participants? If so, can you please scale everything based on 10 or 15 and NOT 20?

I can see that you are ignoring the meat of what I reply, and only cherry pick certain parts to argue with.

And you actually used the term “whitewash” there? There’s not really any reason for future conversation at this point. Have a good day! I hope you can end up excited about the new season coming out.

Kara and Taz are so hard to do in pugs, and so is Workshop. At least one good player could carry Junkyard.

I’m glad to see Grimrail Depot, but sad Everbloom isn’t second

So, just to summarize most of what I’ve seen so far:

  1. It’s very good to hear you guys are trying to shake things up to give us “new” stuff to do in the obvious content drought you seem to be expecting. That’s better than the past.
  2. Letting people vote on dungeons was a great idea. But you probably should have let the community vote on all 8 dungeons, even if it was just 2 from each expansion they voted on. Because you chose the most hated M+ of the past 3 expacs. You also included a dungeon known to cause motion sickness in the WoD poll.
  3. Do not bring back Domination Shards. Most of us destroyed them, and do not want to gather them again, even you, Blizzard, have admitted Domination Shards were a bad and failed system.
  4. Be careful how you bring back raids, people will feel forced to run all 3 raids if you do it how you describe it.
  5. Do not bring back Domination Shards.

If I might offer a suggestion on how to shake up the raid situation without making people feel forced to run 3 raids a week:

Why not re-use the Kyrian Arena (that’s used for Path of Ascension), and hand pick the more fun bosses in the 3 Shadowlands raids and have the fights take place there, in an entirely new raid? That way you can also alter the loot table of these bosses so they contain the more sought after trinkets and weapons.

I can’t imagine it’d take THAT much dev time to use pre-existing fights and assets.

Several concerns about this. (edit: I do like that the devs are experimenting and communicating though)

Making older content having the option to be more difficult sounds good on paper with keeping the content relevant, but rewards of higher item level gear would need to be handled with care. Since it is being posted as a new “season” with the new M+ Pool & raid affixes, then how would that keep 9.2 (specifically) SoFo gear relevant or desirable over what is being proposed?

Currently also there are multiple difficulties in raiding: LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. Would this affix be something that we stick in an object or talk to an NPC at the start of the raid? For the sake of the example… Would it turn the current 4-raid difficulties into 7-8 like…

LFR, LFR+, Normal, Normal+, Heroic, Heroic+, Mythic, Mythic+ Raids?

With the addendum of no hall of fame, this will certainly discourage current raiding guilds from wanting to participate outside of higher item level gear for specific slots or trinkets, unless there is some other reward tied to it to give incentive, like an achievement (Feat of Strength, transmog, title, etc.)

Raid loot dropping would also need to be determined/communicated if it is going to be dropping higher item level than SoFo, or where in the line it falls into place for intended player power progression. (Edit: Since all 3 raids being relevant with this idea, would say a Castle Nathria piece be far better than one from SoFo?)

For the M+ Pools…noticed 6 out of 8 were all “mega dungeons”, aside from the community voted 2 for WoD dungeons. Wonder what the reasoning is for picking megadungeons are. From reading several replies it seems like many have mixed-to-negative feelings about them.

Hopefully there is more communication & clarify from the amount of feedback people are posting.

I really like this idea. It seems relatively easy to implement from an engineering perspective so it doesn’t take resources from developing the next expansion, but should give some extra life to that long period of downtime between xpacs.

I also am cautiously optimistic about the idea of affix raiding. I think it’s a cool idea to make older raids relevant again and send them off in style. I am strongly against adding any sort of timer to raids similar to Mythic+, though. High end raiding is interesting because of the social aspects of it; making attempts, discussing how to get better, constant iteration and experimentation. Turning raiding into another “gotta go fast” Sonic clone like Mythic+ is would be miserable and lose a ton of the appeal of raiding for me. So, I really like the idea of remixed raid encounters, but want the affix system to end there. No extra timers or incentives for speeding.

As for WoD dungeons - Iron Docks is a must. It’s the best dungeon of that expansion. I would love to see Bloodmaul Slag Mines and UBRS included as well. I’m sure a lot of people would enjoy the mass AoE potential of Everbloom. So any of those would also be good. But please, no Skyreach. I really dislike that place.

Great idea, love to see this sort of iteration to keep the game interesting.

  1. remove target cap from every class (noone wants to hit up to 5 or reduced dmg over 5 targets.), old dungeons requires bigger pulls and bigger pulls are funnier
  2. let us chose all the 8 dungeons , i’m pretty sure everyone wanna choose what dungeon wants to play untill 10.0

Love it! Thank you for doing this! Such a nice way to shake up the end of an expansion. Increased item levels on the loot is a nice bonus I never thought we’d see!

Please consider doing Halls of Atonement instead of Tazavesh Streets, I love hoa so much!

yeah ok but this is just ur own fault

prices dropped to like 1/5 of what it used to be

because the meat of what you’re saying is be positive for this, it’s exciting when it’s not

rehashed content is not good in a expac like shadowlands where 9.3 was cut

whats next you’ll be explaining to me how a new 6 month sub mount is more exciting than asking them to deliver content

not excited in the slightest about a new season

Some encounters from nathria and sanctum are just obnoxious.

I’m mostly concerned that this would end up like classic where your guild makes a laundry list scheduling every raid across the week because they all give something useful.
