Alright blizz let’s face it. Fire did not need this and when you say need more creative plays around combust than dispelling it appears you just wanted to nerf sp and shaman even more into rogue mage.

I understand fire mage is not s tier this expansion but removing the counter play of dispel is a real disservice for classes that clearly only had one way to shut down rogue mage onslaught.

Fire mage will be even more oppressive at rogue mage and will continue to be subpar with other classes because of their win condition generally being off raw burst damage and cc. Now when cc is gone combust will be going the entire duration. Likely will kill thru defenses and trinkets every bust go if it can’t be shut down completely. Ie warrior fear or a anti magic zone or a immunity which shaman does not have.

Horrible change imo

Edit: there really is no words on giving them this over nerfing other specs

Everyone got 15% CC reduction which was a huge nerf to RMP/Jungle type comps.

That was the biggest nerf ever to setup comps and a huge buff to idc if ur cc’d or not im gonna train you to the ground comps.

So i wanted to ask this but didn’t want to make a post just for this so hopefully someone can answer here.

amplify curse + weakness = unable to crit. if you throw that on a mage during combust would it negate the combust? i know they can decurse and any smart one would but just curious

I thought it was just physical but have heard that it can sometimes affect magic stuff, so also curious.

IDK really how to read spell data, but it would seem Amplify curse says it applies a -100 value to effect #2 of curse of weakness, that being Modify Critical Strike %. So amplify causes curse of weakness to apply a -100% crit debuff to the target.

Prevented locks from being able to crit demonbolts in SL so think it just makes you not able to crit anything.

it doesnt work on combust or chaos bolt

I’ve been told it affects any crit, seen it used to prevent NS regrowth crit.

Spells that can not not crit like lava burst and chaos bolt are unaffected just like they aren’t by roar of sac

Doesn’t chaos bolt ignore crit rate entirely? Figured it would work on combust since roar of sac guts combust damage too no?

chaos bolt is guaranteed critical, combustion is just +100% crit chance. the -100% modifier would theoretically counteract the +100% crit chance provided by combustion. It wouldn’t prevent critical strikes entirely though.

Amplify weakness doesnt stop combust. I still generate crits like normal in it

It does prevent me critting outside of combust even with fireblast thats 100% crit chance as fire and cannot generate pyroblasts.

-Source just tested in durotar AGAIN to be 100%

feel like its kinda fried to even respond to this post seriously but

when you’re in a proper setup by RMP, combust isnt dispellable before it’s done it’s damage anyway. when you’re fighting a mage comp that doesn’t involve a rogue, shaman/priest almost automatically beat mage anyway.

this change makes the non-rogue matchup 50/50 as opposed to 80/20 favor of the dispeller, while simultaneously not changing the strength of an RMP who’s doing proper goes

I would also like to point out that while combust isn’t purgable. Triune is gone so assuming for whatever reason (Lack of cross CC, non rmp)

You can spam purge the mage on combust anyway and rip every pyroblast proc off so your only getting fireblasted and still take away the damage. Hot Streak is purgeable and with even less buff protection it should be simple enough

Not like we should be having this conversation anyway. Its Arcanes time to shine fire will prob be B/C tier rest of expansion after BFA/SL spotlight unless blizzard really cares enough to clean it up.

I’ll be back. For now it will just be the name of my favorite ability. Also getting Gpyro’d by a mage named Gpyro is pretty obnoxious
