I would agree that if they don’t want to open up a tank spec for Evoker, that it would be neat if they could let Dracthyr be other classes though. At the very least Warriors, Mages, and Druids.
Druids: They can channel the magics of the Green Dragonflight and they’re natural shapeshifters. This seems like a good fit.
Mages: The Bronze and Blue Dragonflights are some of the best Mages on Azeroth. Dracthyr inherit that power.
Warriors: Anyone can pick up a weapon and learn to wield it with training.
I get that at first Blizz wants to set them up as going into the world with just their natural talents, but I would love if they would branch off a bit in the future. Lots of people would love to play the race, but don’t necessarily want to be an Evoker.
And later on down the road if they choose to do that so be it. The idea that the Dracthyr go off into Azeroth and learn from the mortal races after we help them do whatever it is we will be doing is fine. Although why beings capable of utilizing the magic of the dragon flights would choose to go off and use “inferior” forms of mortal combat is beyond me.
For fun, I guess. I imagine that their lifespans are not short. It’s the novelty of learning something different. Take Mages, for instance. Dragon Magic is amazing, but Mortal Mages have come up with some really unique spells. A Dracthyr might want to study their way of doing things.
Heck, most the Blue/Bronze Mages in game ARE prolly just using their Dragon Magic in lore, but unfortunately Blizzard doesn’t make that distinction, so as players we have to ask to play other classes.
Quite the TL;DR of the forums regarding Dracthyr Evokers, with many of my own complaints and suggestions in there (which are in no way unique to me). Nice to see it all complied in one place.
You miss the primary approach on this. It is in regards to Heroic classes. These are Death Knights, Demon Hunters and soon-to-be Dracthyr. Monks are not a heroic class. All other hybrids are not heroic classes.
So Arthas must have been a bit short sited with the DK’s from what you say, but they have done well. Illidan trained his “perfect elite ‘units’” to fight the Legion up close and personal. So I suppose you are implying that Dracthyr cannot handle it and need a crutch?
From what you are saying these guys seem pretty hybrid already.
Safe bet Blizz would have pumped these things as much as possible during the expansion into. Looks like your boom might be a wishful “puff.”
I knew you’d say this but my question to you is, why on earth is this relevant? A hero class is just a fancy lore term for why they start at higher level. Please don’t even with this distinction if we’re talking about from a gameplay perspective (how many of each roles there are).
Arthas was a paladin who fell into darkness. It makes perfect sense that he’d fashion his death knights in his image. After all, Ner’zhul was a bit narcissistic like that
lore wise demon hunters are also capable of an abundance of range combat. Gameplay wise we don’t see it much but it’s kind of there. Just look at the illidan fight. Demon Hunters have wings, throwable weapons, fel magic etc…
Danuser specifically framed them as Neltharion’s perfect creations. The perfect balance of draconic might/wisdom & mortal ‘‘scrappiness’’ (whatever the hell he meant by that)
Hybrid is a gameplay term. What I meant by hybrid is dps/tank/healer
Not saying it’ll happen, I’m saying I’d like it to happen
100% think they should allow full transmog in dragon form…it is basically just a reskinned Worgen model…not like it would take much work to let people see the armor they work so hard to get.
Also 100% agree they should be able to be other classes besides just the evoker. Makes no sense for a race not to be able to be at least basic classes like Warrior.
When it comes to workload, it seems blizz either had to or wanted to cut a lot of corners with the dracthyr. Almost eveything about them is stripped from somewhere else in the game, whether it be their belf male & human female visage forms or their dracthyr forms that use the demon hunter metamorphasis rigging (aka the last 2 classes added to the game will share the exact same foundational animations -_-)
Evoker should definitely have a Tank spec added! I feel like it is such a missed opportunity for Blizzard not to do so. For every reason I read against evoker tanks there are at least 3 counter points that are valid. Personally I feel like thematically a Dragon should be able to get up in your face and tank, this coupled with some of their animations really has me wanting to tank with one as a player who primarily plays dps. It would also give lust to the tank role which is currently not in the game and help that much more in group comps for M+. Finally a caster tank has been a much wanted fantasy in WoW since Gruul, Blizzard this is your chance to give us an amazing intellect tank.
For Augmentation. Can we please get Eruption to be a Channeled cast, instead of a hard cast. It doesn’t feel good to lose that feeling of Disintegrate. If it could be channeled and have ticks add time to Ebon Might, it would allow us to retain that feeling of an evoker. Eruptions hard cast makes me kind of feel like every other caster in the game.
