I ran across something in game a little while ago and I would like to inquire about a course of action.
I was doing the quests and activities that reward coffer key shards. I had accumulated 190 shards. As we all know, it takes 100 shards to convert them into a key.
I had 2 keys already plus I had 190 shards. I talked to the npc that can convert the shards into keys, but instead of getting 1 key, I got 3. Something isn’t right. I currently have 5 coffer keys. The 2 I already had plus 3 more when I should have only gotten 1. I still have 90 shards showing in my currency tab. I should only have 3 keys right now.
My question is: can I safely use these keys, or should I hold off on using them in case this is considered a bug or exploit or something that can get my account sanctioned in some sort of way?

Looking at the log lines, Lunaci, nothing looks amiss.
3/17 at 19:55 UTC you exchanged 100 to receive a Restored Coffer Key, bringing your total to 2. You then had 0 Coffer Key Shards left.
You then received 50, 35, 35, 35, 35, 100, 100 from various quests and activities for a total of 390. Which you spent 3/17 at 23:00 UTC for 3 keys bringing your total to 5.
To answer your question though, if you had experienced a bug like that then no, you would not be expected to not use the keys. Though with a caveat.
There are usually two outcomes under normal circumstances. You keep the keys and use them as you normally would, the overall issue is fixed and hopefully doesn’t happen again. Alternatively, the fix may involve a clawback for any excess keys that might have been earned. If you had used those keys you may have a temporary negative currency until you earn enough to bring you into a positive amount.
The only time you’d normally get in trouble is if you found an exploit and excessively used that exploit. Penalties are usually based on how badly someone has abused the exploit so you usually had to make some effort in your exploitation.

Thank You Vrakthris. I am relieved that everything is in order. I can’t begin to describe what my mental state would be if something I did, although not intentionally would put my account in jeopardy.
It’s SUPER easy to get key shards this time, a welcome change honestly. I was capped very quickly after starting yesterday and didn’t even realize I was collecting most of them!
The fact that entering a delve automatically turns them into full keys is fantastic and I’m glad to have that one inventory space back.
