Coffee advice (lol)

Interesting. I’ll have to try that. Never even heard of it.

Death Wish coffee claims to be the strongest coffee in the world. It is good, but it doesn’t do the trick for me. It is good for making White Russians though lol. Vietnamese coffee is probably the best for staying awake, but you drink too much you will crash and get tired. Most Vietnamese restaurants have iced coffee. But store bought I recommend any that was made in the Da Lat area. Those named brand coffees are no good. A Vietnamese coffee filter would also play a factor in how strong your coffee is. It just has to do with how you make your coffee. You have to figure out the best coffee/water ratio. Adding espresso would help too. Good luck! ^^

Well I have the kureg i use a lot but i also have ground beans in a bag I used this morning. Tastes so much better imo.

Here’s a good video tutorial with info:

There’s a million other pour over coffee guides out there that go more in depth, though.

Yeah man, you can buy a good grinder for cheap too. Makes all the difference, I’ll never go back to buying coffee pre-ground.

I put a teaspoon or 2 of sugar in my coffee everytime. Bad? I thought it would help with the boost.

I knew Mr. Coffee was on to something.

It’s probably fine but caffeine > sugar in terms of what’s good for the brain / crashes. If you find yourself crashing often, I’d avoid sugar and stick with caffeine if I had to pick one or the other (:

“Sugar is not the best way to stimulate the brain,” says Ralph Downey III, PhD, director of the Loma Linda University Sleep Disorders Center in California. “It doesn’t have the value that caffeine does for the short boost.”

Perhaps you simply need more nutrients. I have terrible eating habits and often find myself hitting periods of low energy. It can usually be put down to not enough vegetables. I’ve heard that some medications can even exacerbate such things. Have a good feed of vegies and see if that helps. Or if you’re pressed for time or access, get yourself some fresh veggie/fruit juice.

This is just regular drip, using an espresso-fine ground, twice as much coffee, and water that’s 205 instead of 140-160. It’s an espresso without forcing the water through. In other words, drip coffee.

Yerba mate is better, wakes you up more without the jitters

I’ll look into that, thank you. I’ll throw out my medical issues cause I don’t mind sharing. But I have Hypothyroidism, along with Manic Depression and Generalized / Social Anxiety disorder.

The Thyroid I can see playing a major role in my energy levels and mood. Currently going to see a specialist in November for that actually.

Good advice though I’ll look more into my nutrition levels. I’m not overweight but I do have horrid eating patterns. Honestly I think my energy levels are due to the way I treat my body and the thyroid / depression stuff.

Pour over coffee uses a medium-coarse grind, not an espresso grind.

There’s also the process of blooming the coffee which changes the taste a lot compared to drip coffee. Also the water temp is different.

Ohh okay, I don’t know why I thought it looked really fine in the video. Good because as long as it would take the water to go through fine coffee, it would probably taste really bad.

I edited and put in a better, more in depth video. Watch that one instead, it specifies the grind better.

mmmmmm

Bean Juice.

My diet is horrid, if that answers your question.

Talk to a doctor and get to the root of the lethargy issue. Drink your coffee how it makes you happy.

The more caffeine you consume, the less it will give you a boost. Your body grows to tolerate it.
