In my view, it is very simple: the mega-servers should never have been allowed to take shape, and now they must be destroyed. Create 10 new servers (for example), and allow guilds to sign up for transfer on a first come first served basis. This will keep communities together, and hopefully will allow pvp servers to have some balance again. Don’t let people transfer servers except under very specific circumstances. If people want to transfer, they should have to re-roll. I would estimate that there is something like 2x or 3x the number of players on benediction than the server can handle. What are you guys doing about that? Basically nothing. It’s poor stewardship. I understand that most jobs are very complicated and difficult, but this is the most important thing for you to tackle right now.
Say that this way a mistake, take bold action, and fix it. If the concern is money, open up faction, race, and name changes.
Lastly, as someone who works in tourism and who leads groups of people through various excursions, the last thing that you want to do is to allow people to make decisions for themselves. That is when you get chaos. Please, take action, and make a choice. It is very weak of this team to take a passive role in something that is so critical. I am sympathetic, but everyone is very disappointed in you guys.
To the people who will complain about the closing of these mega-servers I would say this: is there any community, really, to be had on these Walmart realms? There is no character, no conversation, not love to be had. These are fundamental elements of wow: talking smack, cracking jokes, etc. Otherwise, we’re just playing another video game. I remember on Thunderfury, there were characters who you enjoyed running into in Stormwind, there were people who were notorious, there were people who were beloved. What do we have on the mega-servers?
