Sure Rogues can get Cloak of Shadows, but they should lose Shadow Step and Mutilate for it.

Rogues already destroy casters in seconds, they need CoS so they can easily restealth to kill the next guy.

Your class is useless if you can’t use stealth because you are dotted by every rune ability in the game.

Isn’t that the point of rogues? If they get the jump on you, you’re dead but if you catch them unstealthed you win.
Rogues are definitely not mid, they are on par with Shadow Priests.

They added cloak in TBC because of these rune abilities everyone is getting.
Rogue is near impossible to play when everyone can dot you and you can’t remove the dots or re-stealth.
Rogue was already one of the hardest classes to play in high level PVP in Classic before the runes.

People will complain about backstab if mutilate ever gets nerfed or becomes a less attractive option for that slot. Doesnt really change much.

That is very true, but in TBC they didn’t have 40 energy Mutilates.
If they increase Mutilates energy back to 60, I reckon it would be fair to give them Cloak of Shadows, but as it currently stand I do not believe they need it.

Backstab has a lot more counterplay such as… not letting the Rogue get behind you.
I’m sure people will still complain but that’s just because people complain about everything.
that spell needs to be on a 10 minute cooldown and only last 20 secs max

Imagine having the greatest weapon in the entire game, stealth, and complaining that you don’t have enough tools to function in pvp.
