I doubt that includes cross realm raids formed via the group finder however. While it probably does try to balance the shard over time, I’m sure a sudden influx of 40 players on one faction will take more time to balance out than the life of said raid.

Maybe the RP shards are different though since they are only grouped with other RP servers (except for cross realm groups).

Finally, it was settled to balance Warmode shards at 50/50 and all spillover goes onto single-faction Warmode shards which is where we remain today

This is baffling to me and I hope I’m misunderstanding, but it seems to mirror my WM experience as of late.

Sooooo… if the main shard is “balanced” it shoves everyone else into SINGLE FACTION SHARD? I turn WM on to get in a fight! Why in the world would I want to be on a shard with only my own faction in WM?! Yet I experience this fairly regularly. I’ve even experimented with others on the same connected-realms and found there to be usually two shards per realm. One shard has people to fight… the other is largely just my own faction.

Am I misunderstanding and I’m stupid? Or is this system actually just baffling stupid… putting people that signed up for a fight into shards with no one to fight in the name of “balance”?

Fun fact, Warmode, we totally made the same mistake too. At launch, we knew that overall Horde players generally participate in PvP more than Alliance so we knew that it was likely more Horde and Alliance would opt into Warmode. They wanted to make sure that each Warmode shard had some Alliance players so it spread out all the Alliance players between all the Warmode shards we needed based on player numbers. Uh-oh, er, there’s like 40 Allies in the zone and 200 Horde. It was a blood bath, so Alliance stopped using Warmode. They then changed it to a max allowed delta, I think the split was 40-60 and then all remaining Horde would go into excess shards that were just all Horde and no Alliance.

Another dev has said that of people who participate in pvp, there are more people playing Night Elves than there are people playing Horde.

Sometimes for no reason there are an absurd amount of hordes sometimes its allies and most of the time its due crate groups rn.

From times to time the crate groups smash each other and some fun can be have.

The reality is that the majority of the playerbase want to smash and win and thats all, nobody wants a fair wpvp fight etc. So give up, if faction balance is not forced and maintained by blizzard it’s not gonna happen.

At least every tuesday i have some wpvp fun with sparks quests in the free for all areas

Not that I don’t believe this, but have you got a source on that?

They’re on their own shards because they get wiped by the alliance communities and instead of contesting crates just shard hop.

Now eat ur wm slop and stop complaining. The devs know what theyre doing… clearly
