They need to “explore” this for Shadowlands. They literally only have to flip a switch to make it happen.
It would make everyone so happy to even get 2 or maybe 4 new combos (faction parity). Such an easy win for Blizz to drum up expansion excitement, why not just go ahead and do it instead of waffling?
100% agree. Especially since I would assume they want players to try out the new leveling intro and the new level squish with leveling experience.
Kind of a double whammy if you ask me. New race class combinations to bring players back and to level alts. Then also utilization of the new leveling system.
Even just adding 1 new race class combination for each core race wouldn’t be difficult at all. Only druids and shaman would require a little extra work. And even then, it’s not that hard to reskin some models already in the game.
Although I could back you up on the others. I can say some of them maybe and some of them definitely have potential. I can’t say the same with these two because the Light will not accept them. It’s been like start since the Undead were just forming. The reason why they can be priest was because Blizzard bent the rule for Undead Shadow Priest. But it does say the light burns them and they’ll dissolve.
I also asked why Worgen could not be Paladins but remember how Arthas was doing everything for revenge? Well yeah it’s kind of like that. Worgen will go too mad and thus the Light simply won’t accept them anymore. It would be cool to see those two race become Paladins but I can see why it won’t be made.
I’d cite Alonsus Faol as an antithesis to that, but I don’t actually recall him using any light based spells because I never played a Priest.
Otherwise, yeah. There are definitely more “out there” prospects that would need a lot more work than others that would probably only happen if the time skip after Shadowlands theory is true.
I mean if Calia is becoming a new figure head within the ranks of the Forsaken we are going to learn new things about undeath and the light. Like for 1 we’ve learned that there’s clearly more than 1 type of necromancy. So who’s to say the Forsaken can’t wield a different sort of light, or based on the paladins we see in Hellfire Citadel that they can’t use another power instead of the light.
I honestly think they might need to retcon the definition of paladin for WoW at this point. Instead of a martial warrior infused with the light, replace light with a great power or energy. Void, Fel, and Arcane could really fulfill the same role as light for paladin-esque types. We’ve also seen it done for Fel and Void already.
Hell, I’d even go as far to say that Night Warriors are a type of paladin. Because they’re driven by retribution and fueled by the power of a God.
Also, Goblin’s should’ve had Monks because they host brewfest horde side and the Pandarens love brew.
EDIT: and to add once more. At least in the Warcraft Universe, it doesn’t take too long to train to become a Monk.
Post Nightborne allied race unlock, there’s a group of Nightborne Trainees out in a courtyard training to become Monks.
Yeah, it was rather shocking how quickly Nightborne gained monks. I guess they are a very centered peoples? I guess the same goes for Zandalari, Kul’tirans, Dark Irons, etc etc etc.
The mingling of the core races is the main reason I’d say most of the classes should be open to them now. A handful of exiles from the Sin’dorei created an entire new army for the alliance. Kinda feels like at this point a handful of individuals could create any sect for any class within the core races.
Waiting on my Farstriders to announce their hidden order within their ranks that has kept druidism alive in the Sin’dorei since before Arthas invaded.
I really think the arguments I’ve seen against worgen paladins are very silly. If night elves that worship Elune can become paladins (like everyone wants them to), and worgen can be priests, then why on earth couldn’t they be paladins?
Let some worgen learn to control their curse well enough (because, you know, they already have?) to become paladins. It would show actual growth and the Alliance interacting within itself and training others in different ways.
Overall, though, I think WoW has outgrown most of the race/class combinations. I think they should open up a lot more race/class combinations for Alliance and Horde. WoW is not doing well, that’s not a secret, so let people have some actual fun again and stop being so restrictive and I think it’d help everybody. Plus it’d show an organic and growing world and relationships between the races in their factions, that not everyone is completely stagnant.
Um blood elves or void elves? I assume you mean void elf paladins.
I think paladin should be changed to just identify as a warrior of faith. Not necessarily tied to the light anymore. We’ve seen so many other “paladins” that use different energies to fuel their powers. Fel and Void could definitely power some paladins, and have done so in game.
I will join you in this struggle; I’ve wanted my holy Hound of God paladin worgen since Cata (never imagined before that that they would actually make worgen playable, despite my insistence on the forums that it would be possible).
