Meeting Stones. They automatically grouped you. So did Innkeepers as of Patch 1.5.
As Aeresia says, that already exists in vanilla in the form of meeting stones and innkeepers.
And then, as Aeresia also posted for all of us to read, Blizzard’s stance on the matter has been stated and it is that as long as it is not automating gameplay and is just allowing organizing things to be more easily readable, it is fine.
If the issue you have with it is based on that video where the guy lists his group and it automatically forms a group for him, you have been lied to.
First of all, it never formed functional groups for you. It just accepted the first people to apply, so you would pretty much always end up in a group of random level DPS with no tanks or healers.
Second, the guy who made that video conveniently forgot to mention that he set it all up beforehand. He had four other people install the addon and get on level ~20ish characters and and apply to the group when he posted it. He had arranged to have precisely those characters ahead of time so that the group would form immediately, with a tank and healer. He was being intentionally misleading, the author specifically stated the addon does NOT and will NOT function like that.
Third, the author agreed that even allowing that was still too close to LFD/LFR and restricted it so it can’t be used for dungeons and raids.
TL;DR - yes it’s allowed. No, it’s not LFD/LFR. People were lied to to spark outrage.

What achievement do you refer to? Just curious.
I have the Private title from Vanilla but I’m not sure if that’s proof given that you can get that from RBGs too (although I’ve only ever done like 2 of those).
no one used them that way, they only used them to summon. Chat was the main way to form groups and should remain as the main way to make groups for dungeons. if you want to raid you socialize and get into a guild to do so. it’s too close to retail and needs to be cut out.
Yeah, the Private/Scout title. Mine actually technically is “Private” too (which is why I said it’s not a good one, haha) as I was a Gnome Warlock back then, but yeah. You’re right that those titles came back for RBGs, but anyone with the original title achievement under Legacy->PvP “Earned the title at level 60.”
Not a defense. As I keep reiterating, covering your eyes and pretending that something doesn’t exist doesn’t make it ‘not’ exist. LFG was in Vanilla. It was primitive and it’s search function isn’t all that great, but it exists.
Therefor, addons that supplement the Classic LFG system cannot violate the ‘spirit of classic.’
They literally could not summon until patch 2.0.1.
They were introduced in 1.3.0 and would put you into a queue and actually automatically form a group for you.
In patch 1.5.0, they also made innkeepers able to enter you into the meeting stone queue without having to physically go to it.
Edit:
And patch 1.7.0 had these notes for them:
- You will no longer be kicked from the meeting stone queue when a player declines a group invite or when inviting someone that is already in a group.
- You will now be informed that you have left the meeting stone queue when the group leader logs out.
- Tanks and Healers will now be immediately added to the group by the meeting stone when they are the 5th member of the group.
- You can now be added to a group by the meeting stone when that group contains characters that have disconnected.
Which suggests that people were actually using them as they were originally intended. Yes, they were not as commonly used as chat, but they were in the game, they could be used, and they were more automated than the addon.

Classic and retail can both be fun experiences to play. You are a toxic person that makes everyone around you miserable…
the addon creator lied it, it also checks talents.
Obviously you’re projecting and trying to make things personal when some one’s specifically talking about the game. 
get real man. the creator of the addon lied and theres more than just one video showing this.
So do Meeting Stones. How else do you think they looked for Tanks / Healers?

Yea, the old API allowed alot of things, you could fully automate your character, last night there was a podcast with Omar and Brian, where they essentailly said, they are removing things from the API, even if it did exist in classic, based on that it goes against what they want…
Simplified, things that automate things is a huge nono… and again the problem is the addon LFG you guys avoid talking about, the one that autoinvite people and can do this based on talents, that is the addon that needs broken so it dosent work
As well there were a few addons back in the day. ‘Call to Arms’ towards the end of vanilla had some traction.

I’m sorry that you don’t like the addon, but this is as much our game as it is yours. This attitude of “my Classic” is significantly more damaging to the community than this or any addon and is only going to drive away players who might consider coming to play but then see the toxicity and gatekeeping coming from you guys.
You’re the one trying to ask that something available in vanilla be banned from Classic while at the same crying about “#nochanges.” Why should we be the ones to not play the game we clearly remember better?
None of us gets to decide who plays and who doesn’t. There is no requirement for being allowed to play Classic, this isn’t an exclusive club for us “real vanilla players.” Disagreeing with us is one thing, but trying to dissuade people from playing is actively hurting the game you claim to love and is a disservice to the community.
You need to stop.

What’s the addon’s name? If it does what you say and actually automates group finding, I will happily agree with you that it needs to be broken/banned.
If you’re still talking about ClassicLFG and the video posted earlier where the guy lists his group and it automatically fills up in a few seconds, then you need to go read my earlier posts because that video lied.
