What people singularly fail to understand is Classic WoW is not Vanilla WoW.
Ion said very clearly that they want to recreate the style and mood of how the vast majority of people played then. It is a overarching philosophy, not exact details on “This happened in 2005-- so it should happen now.”
Most of all, we know thanks to fifteen years of hindsight the kinds of features that erode the social structures. ClassicLFG might have seemed ‘Oh, that’s useful’ back in 2005, but people then couldn’t know how these kinds of thing - so obviously in retrospect - damage the game. Flying is the same; CRZ is the same.
A huge part in classic is getting friends, and the questing across the world, as i said, making friends in classic is a very important asset, and wourth the time… its entirly up to you if you want to neglect this… and no addon that tries to automate this process should be allowed, and aparantly blizzard agrees, and will make changes to limit it…
I have never seen a forum post with so many likes.
Although the intent behind it wasn’t as bad as many believed, I think you guys are making the right choice…this part hits the nail directly on the head:
There were parts of it that didn’t require the addon, but we all know that people would feel it borderline necessary to have unless they wanted to waste more time than others.
But the addon is staying… the created says they are just changing a few of the additions…
How does the addon effect the need to quest and get out of the world? I really do think you understand what this addon does friend. It’s literally just a chat parser that combines people LFG as if you were writing down names on a piece of paper.
the fact the addons and sites themselves have been featured on blizzard’s own twitch stream promoting these esport events and nothing is done about them
the forums prevent links. The onus is on you to cite where these sites are forbidden. The only sites taken down by blizzard were those using their IP on private realms. point in fact wowhead (zam, who acquired thottbot, tankspot, allakhazam, etc) is a routine partner of blizzard. clearly they do not mind them writing software to trivialize their game as it helps promote it.
if any of these sites weren’t allowed by blizzard they would have taken action ages ago and they have not. they’re fine with these sites. that’s the double standard of changing classic for this single addon
you can try shoehorn something blizzard obviously dont want, and they are likely going to keep making adjustments… perhaps you guys should ask yourself something, espechially since blizzard made a blue post about it, to my knowledge that isnt something they do alot…
That’s the entire point, something you can compare to the retail premade finder shouldn’t exist lol, its not that hard to grasp. Most people don’t even communicate in a premade on retail, they just click on whoever’s numbers are higher because thats all people are are walking numbers. Then you get in the group and outside of the first “hello” no one talks, it doesn’t feel social in the slightest it feels like I’ve teamed up with a bunch of NPCs because I never had to say anything to get in.
At least without this people have to start a dialogue with a person which can lead to friendships etc, especially since theres not much else to do on your run to the dungeon.
