ClassicLFG addon

Maybe, maybe not. If add-ons were here 15 years ago, 90% of the population probably didn’t hear about it. Fast forward 15 years, different story. LFG was a decent qol change for me, I’ll admit, but I get why people who play this game to actually socialize would not be a fan.

I don’t understand why anyone would even want this addon?

The whole point of classic was to make things harder. And now a bunch of players are already clamouring for “easier” before the game is even out.

Classic or harder choose one

David Bowie was a freaking legend. Taken from us too soon. RIP you beautiful human being.

Eh, to play devil’s advocate, I’m gonna say “harder” or more of a “nuisance?” What makes grouping without an add-on actually “harder?”

I totally understand the idea behind this argument, but spamming LF1M isn’t quality socializing time. I don’t know about you but I would much rather talk to people in party chat or even discord.

If I have to try to snag a post from a chat going a million miles a second then feck it, I just won’t ever group with randoms and just isolate myself inside my guild.

Why do you play classic, i thought the whole thing was to try create that classic experience ?

Yea, I see both sides. Tough one

i don’t see how they can require a mouseclick for a chat hook. that’s injecting a hw event into a workflow that doesnt use it. unless they add a protected dialog asking you to confirm every invite which is way overkill (and can be click evented around lol).

inspect specifically was always limited to immediate proximity. as somebody who attempted to refactor some of the initial gearscore addons can attest to. you had to be closer than even trade range initially to inspect. running away from other players while honor was being calculated to hide your rank position was definitely a real thing.

a lot of the api nerfs are exactly what you describe. the ability to target other units (focus, unitcastinginfo) was reduced to basically only the player theirself. the way addons got around that was asking all players with the addon to get this data on themselves and communicate over a channel and sync up that way. addons get around those limitations quite succinctly.

Yea, but here is the thing, if you rush through the world, you are less likely to pick up friends, a very important aspect of classic is to gather friends, set up the network of people as you journey through the universe, now ask yourself, people that take their time and build friend lists, and put their time and effort into this, will they have a easier time creating groups ?.. its totally your own foult if you dont want to invest time into the people you play with, just like real life !

Or you can just type /who and look through the area’s alot of the times guild either broke up because they stayed too tight and didn’t interact with other players or merged into one guild with another guild similar to their own when they wanted to continue to progress in content. or just pug it.

Which is something this addon helped cultivate…

I plan to play classic because the game lost it’s sense of direction mid-way through WOTLK, item effects and stat deign and class design became homogenized, raiding lost it sense of accomplishment with all the different difficulty versions (and LFR), as well as hyperbalance. All of these contributed, I’m partial to flying but it definitely killed world pvp. It was a slow process but I have my reasons for supporting this addon but still not being interested in retail. I couldn’t even get through leveling to max because level scaling killed any sense of progress and Blue/Purples have no meaning anymore.

At this point in time, a lot of cliques are made. I know in the BG forums, we already have a community of people ready to quest/play together. Not to say they won’t make friends along the way, but in that aspect, it definitely will be different than 15 years ago. Many people actually have their guild/community formed.

it had features that can completely avoid doing that which is the problem in the first place.

Thank you all for making a decision. I think most of us didn’t care whether it was allowed or not, but all of us will be happy to see the ‘discussion’ disappear. That said, I’m curious if the complainers will just move on to the next thing, let alone, even play classic.

No it dident, couse the very addon only added to the spam of the channels, instead of actually talking to people in the first place… everyone will talk to people when a group is formed…

Your problem with this addon is that you want to skip that getting friends part, or have it automated for you… either way gladly Blizzard has decided to act

I agree with a minor exception. If you are bad and you choose to stay bad rather than improve then you have no place in team oriented content

mhmmm, and that gives you the right to change parts of what classic is ?.. part of the importance of what classic was back in the day, was social networking…
