I meant both. The UI/sorting part of the addon, per your comments yesterday, only served to allow you to avoid reading chat… You know, when you were trying to claim it was OK because it really didn’t do all that much. Now, it’s going cause you to avoid grouping altogether?

The number one reason is community. Even the Blizzard devs admitted that much. To think otherwise is to be out of touch with a majority of the user base. Don’t focus so much on private server extremists, that’s not what I’m talking about or something that matters. I’m talking about people who have tested and proven how important a sense of community is in WoW, and the steps we need to take as a group to make sure we preserve that sense of community as much as we possibly can. From that perspective, the addon becomes objectively negative, no matter how little.

And I never said community wasn’t part of it, I said spamming /4 isn’t high on peoples list.
You can have just as much community while making it a little easier to form groups (without automation obviously), because very little of the socialization happened in group forming.
Notice how in just a few hours that Blue post is the most Liked post in the history of the forum? The masses simply Like the post, rejoice and move on. A handful of people who detest social interaction are posting over and over and over. But luckily the devs understand the importance of community. Such a great sign.
I think we are mostly in agreement to be honest at this point, so thats good.
Oh don’t think I am trying to do that, just be prepared if it is not exactly like it was, and be ok with that, manage expectations is all.
I just want to play a game I love, whether it is Retail or Classic.

Taking even a seemingly minuscule portion of social interaction away from the player during the group forming process is the first step on a slippery slope made of garbage
Except it wasn’t, it still required just as much social interaction (before any automation was wrongly added) as spamming /4, but without having to read through all the spam
Oh I’ll still group when needed for leveling etc. But I was always the type to be out in the world pvping and making friends that way. I was looking forward to using this addon to find groups “on the side”
I’ll still group, but it will be with people I know.
And I disagree about the addon making you avoid chat, for me I was planning on using it to talk to more people, and start more conversations. I really really don’t believe the spam in general was ever fun, efficient, or effective. My best groups always came from whispering /who “level” “class” for what my group of friends needed at the time.

this is what drives me crazy. people keep making it sound like it’s going to be some utopia. everyone is going to get along and explain how to do something to the same person 100th time instead of just kicking them. People are still going to kick under-performing and bad players.
