Around post 1970 is where the author of the addon comes in. You can read our back and forth as I try to pin down what the addon can and cannot do and eventually get him to admit how it can be used despite his intentions lol.
You have something against rp addons? Cause that’s something that could easily be broken by “fixing” this, not to mention dps meters, threat meters, and many other things that were a large part of vanilla
yah I have heard people say they removed the thread api that was in the code from the retail part.
But yah , they would just make one that worked how they did in Vanilla.

yah i agree, they both accomplish the same thing.
I’ve never seen a community so full of people in their 20’s to 40’s trying to tell others “the proper way” to enjoy a game and feeling highy and mighty about it in the process. Some people really need to chill out.

We had this huge discussion about this addon on the German Classic forums and it is good to finally get some proper informations. 
Why would you want an addon that removes one of the major design philosophies from the original game we all fought so hard to have re-released? People who want that are very, very obviously not the target audience for Classic WoW and thinking otherwise is borderline delusional.
No not personally but if the rpers get there addons broken theybare going to be one ones who get the api changed back.
Whether they are or not, that has a 0.00% chance of happening anyway
Disapointing decision, Discord Group finding it is then. Wow Classic was obviously about standing in IF spamming the same copy paste text over and over instead of playing the game.
I honestly have no issues with that. Omen was fine for 2004 WoW, it will be fine for Classic. It may not have been perfectly accurate, but it was definitely within a stable enough margin of error that you knew that when the tank lost threat it was because the DPS wasn’t watching theirs. 
maybe. i did some research on the addon and it seemed like the functionality was just a glorified chat parser but it just felt “wrong” . i dont know how to explain it. it just diddnt seem to fit in the scope of classic.
i prefer a more personalized approach when it comes to grouping. it seems that this addon was just a menu that took that out of it.
its just one of those things i guess. i guess blizzard agreed.
It’s not about telling people how to play the game. It’s about keeping an authentic experience. Like I’m gonna use the quest helper addon like I did in Vanilla, but this lfg addon went too far

yea that was the first doa launch I think. we all laughed and were like “wow that failed hard”. part of the issue is they were unable to license a serious codec to make it sound like non robots afaik
Now people will just find group in discord and people will complain about not getting in because they refuse to use it.
The problem comes when it ripples through and affects the rest of the game. If you mod your game to have nyan cat play with ever spell cast I couldn’t care. When you use an addon that cuts the community then it isn’t just how you play the game.

These threads make me want to play retail instead.
