tbh i can’t remember the timelines. they attempted to introduce it three times and one of my invitations was for beta testing it. the published history says the second incarnation arrived in 2.2.0 in 2007 (wow voip) but that was scrapped at least once before. they were all horrible so i tuned them out. literally

100% agree cant have those pesky social networking groups that exclude thise who refuse to use it making life easier for people
I would think this type of add on will be broken for the same reason as ClassicLFG. If you must know then inspect the player.
Were you not filtering out players who did not have mics or speakers or headsets, or who were simply uncomfortable using them for whatever reason, when you required Vent/TS for your groups or raids back in the Vanilla days?

yea apparently they yoinked the call UnitDetailedThreatSituation which the addon relied upon. which means they’ll have to go the klh/omen route of having a pretable that knows all the threat values and calculates it manually. much like the early gearscore addons did and most of the vendor price addons are currently doing.

some addons just feel “wrong” given the whole point of classic.
i know that seems kinda stupid to those that are for this addon but thats what it really comes down to.

Between the decision to release Classic and disable the LFG add-on my faith is Blizzard has been completely restored.

there are thread asking for warden to blacklist discord. be careful what you wish for.
Blizz tiptoes around RP addons and such, they even go out of their way to change their beloved CRZ tech just to make sure RP isn’t ruined. Despite how they saw cross faction chat as a bad thing they just put in more chat between banners.
You didn’t need a mic to participate. As far as speakers that’s more of a problem for an individual. Seeing as that’s part of most people rig setups nothing can be done about that. No one was required to talk.
LoL….yep…some people just have some built up anger…Guys, support the classic WoW game for what it was and what it will be again. Don’t try to change it or critic it. Who knows…you might have some fun and make some friends!

the difference being in actual vanilla if you didnt like it you just didnt install the addon. the modern sentiment is they want to dictate what addons OTHER people get to play with.
these addons have been around forever. most are just now discovering their existence because so few people raided in vanilla as compared with retail where it is mainstream. that’s the real issue. perception.

I don’t understand why anyone would want to play classic with this addon. We’re playing Classic because we enjoyed the way it used to be, so what sense would it make to go against one of the basic design philosophies of the original? If you want that addon, Classic isn’t made for you. Classic is made for and made by people who like the original game the way it was. You wouldn’t even be playing Classic in a few days if the hardcore private server fanbase didn’t push for it and make noise. Stop crying and learn that it’s okay that not everything is here to cater to you specifically.
I’d have to look back at old patch notes but I seem to remember it being around the time of ZG. Believe we all jumped on after the servers coming back up to give it a shot and it just didn’t work.
It serves the exact same function. The philosophy is the exact same. Gatekeeping.
