I don’t think mumble was around for Vanilla. If it was I never heard about it. The big two were Vent and Teamspeak if I remember correctly.
Nice strawman. Maybe next time you reply you can address my actual point. Maybe it is you that’s unaware of the time line by the fact we are running on the 1.12 client.
I think you might have lost the thread a bit here. I don’t know what you are referring to with “They broke the threat meter”. To my knowledge a threat meter for classic hasn’t been developed yet, and if one is, it will probably work exactly like the old 2004 threat meters worked. No they weren’t exactly accurate, but really they weren’t far off. They basically just assigned an value of threat to an ability, when it was used, it increased your threat on the meter.
If they added some way to actually retrieve your actual threat from the server now, eh… I’m not certain that is necessary for Classic. It wasn’t necessary back in 2004. I’m more worried about them breaking the ability to scrape the chat channels and thus the combat log.
That’s that then. Addon or not, though, still not grouping with toxic players.
Hope some of you are a lot politer in game then you are on this forum because you’re going to find yourselves very lonely
It wouldn’t be hard to make a GS that applies a score based on the top 50 items in each slot for each class. Some dungeon blues were better than epics so this would control for that.
No it isn’t too much to ask, but people using conjecture to discuss it isn’t doing any favors.
Agreed, but another thing to bare in mind is the Blue post, where they state they will roll out the “fixes” a few weeks after live release. Now i’m going to do exactly what i’m against here - surmise…it seems Blizzard isn’t sure of exactly how they are going to fix it, and most certainly haven’t written the code to do so yet. I also get the impression they are having some form of communication with the addon writer in this instance.
If we look at it on the whole, Blizzard are giving information, it’s just all they have at the moment.
You’re trying to make an argument based on something coming at the tail end of an expansion that wasn’t used wide spread and act like it was something everyone was using. You lost, let it go and move on. We’re a couple days from launch. No need to have so much hate and vitriol in your heart.
Which is the same principle as an ilvl evaluating addon. The philosophy of having a certain level of accpetable gear to defear an encounter was born in Vanilla.
When you look at someones gear you are judging it’s level. Same as the addon does. It just uses a number rating.
feel free to research it, I cannot remember where I heard it, but it was recent. They had to break it for some reason.
You’re saying people weren’t happy with just the in-game chat communication in Vanilla WoW, and chose instead to go use alternative methods involving voice and speakers that made a crucial social aspect of the game easier?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…
The blue post is here! A wonderful victory for classic!
Yea, of course…
You want LFG so bad, retail is waiting for you kiddo. It’s where you belong it seems.
No threat meter? What a bad tank! Dps watch your threat! Bad tank!
Oh pug life is going to have many fun filled groups. Lol.
Just hope they can come up with a solution “in the weeks following launch” that doesn’t break 100 different other things
I certainly hope your assumptions here are all correct. I sincerely do. My worst fear is knee jerk reaction changes. To be fair to Blizz, they haven’t happened “often” in the history of the WoW API, but I can think up a couple of instances where they have and it wasn’t much fun for the addon authors when it did happen.
Overall, I think we’re in agreement though. Either way, it’s going to be interesting to see how they intend to fix the problem.
I personally hope it breaks a while slew of addons. You reap what you sow
If you’re referring to the in game voice chat it was doa and never worked, lagged like a mother and was just generally unusuable. So much so I believe they ended up removing it for quite some time and ended up bringing it back much later. If you’re taking about using ventrilo instead of typing instructions in a raid then that is an awful argument.
Why stop at this addon? Blizzard should make it so you can’t have the classic WoW client open while discord is running.
Yup. We did. Those dang QoL’s. I miss vent but disco has so much more going for it.
