I admire the good sense and tact of this decision. Kudos for assuming best intentions by the add on creator. Classic will be a culture shock for BFA players. They cannot know if they’ll adapt until they try it on for size. It needs patience from all sides. For myself, the graphics are more beautiful than I anticipated. That deal breaker is calmed. My biggest trepidation now is how to manage inventory, going from lots of guild banks to none at all.

I don’t know how you managed to go from “game developers looked into the code for an addon made for their game and determined this” to “they can’t do anything wrong or make mistakes” but if you are normally in the habit of arguing and debating like this I can’t imagine you win very often.

ty devs! definitely a needed change. hope you keep a close eye on addons after release as well. I would much rather you guys were overly restrictive because the vast majority of these extra addons only take away from the experience rather than add to it. during vanilla the majority of people were only using things that were really basic so it doesn’t make sense to have anything other than that. it’s just completely unecessary and only serves to make the game less like classic and more like retail

This reply gives me more faith in Blizzard to run this game correctly. I think I can speak for many others in saying thanks for sticking to your word. It means a lot to see a gaming company today keep their word and not purely be out for profit. I know Blizzard is obviously out for profit, but things like this show me that you want your customers to enjoy the product they are paying for too. That means a lot for me. I hope you all continue to monitor add-ons like this to keep with the classic feeling.

Dude, most of us WERE classic players. Just, most of us didn’t consider typing “LFM VC” in chat as any kind of profound socialization. But we’re also arguing against the people who had to quit BfA because it lacked the community that we’re able to be a part of…
So here’s my question. When classic releases, and we dont have dungeon finder, and after whatever restrictions this addon is going to get, what’s going to be the next scapegoat for people just not wanting to talk to some of you?

The soul of the game back in 2004/2005/2006 was people using mods that automatically accepted and walked them to quests, and Healbot and Decursive that they only needed to click one button on to have it choose the appropriate heal/dispel and have it automatically cast on the player who needed it the most.

If they go ahead with this it probably will mess up most… The best i could see them doing is not allowing parsing of LFG, /1 /2 , etc. This way like vanilla it could use its own private channel. Otherwise every dps, many of the warring addons are going to break.

Vanilla was extremely less restrictive in terms of addons as well, thanks for playing.
They’re even saying specifically in the post about breaking it that they’re breaking it because they want you to interact with the community the way they want you to, and they don’t want you to do it via this addon.

Trying to use reasoning that there was some form of LFG tool in BC/wotlk - that barely anyone used - and apply that as reasoning for allowing this addon for classic is literally 10 IQ

Kind of dumb of people to get all upset about this addon when Discord already exists and poses a far bigger threat to removing socialization from the game than this little thing.
Oh well. I feel bad for the addon author, but the masses have rioted, and demanded that the only way to bypass in-game LFG and get quick groups is through Discord.
