there are people already using gilded and other shall not be named addons to accomplish this. breaking the api doesn’t stop it

That’s a little mean. We don’t lack the ability to do so ourselves either. We just wanted to be able to filter people. When I’m making a deadmines group, I really don’t want to talk to anyone about putting together a WC group. And “LFM VC” isn’t exactly engaging conversation. This is you making dungeon finder a scapegoat. You’re going to learn very quickly that dungeon finder isn’t why people got quiet in groups. You want to really know? It’s because we don’t like so many of you, so we talked to our guild and our friends, and the people we knew. And that’s how classic is going to go. People aren’t going to talk to you if that’s the kind of attitude you have towards people, and if you like making those kind of assumptions about them. 5 mans are going to probably be pretty quiet.
If the addon is capable of receiving a role from another player using the addon (or anywhere, you could even send roles through whispers as keys), it is no longer an API issue. He has access to the information he needs in order to distinguish what is in the group. The branching of the logic for that feature would occur after getting the information from the API.
A simple check on the person who requested the invite and see if that role is available in the group and voila.
effing pathetic. caving to such a small minority. effing pathetic. Just ban all addons while you’re at it. Only blizzard ui nothing else. Guess everyone will be on server discords to form groups now, maybe blizzard can make it so the WoW client doesn’t open up if discord is running on your PC.
With that said, eff classic and the elitist idiots playing it. the player base in classic is completely repulsive and toxic.

I think the addon would still be extremely useful if they simply removed the auto-invite nature of it, and just allow players to volunteer their stat visibility to it.
This way, group builders/seekers can still manually sort through join requests like we can using the CUSTOM tab of the current BFA LFG Tool. Nothing would be automated and it would be 100% optional.

He mentioned previously that he expected them to break the ability for the addon to transmit character data to each other with the addon and he had made back ups and amendments to account for that eventually being broke.
I would ask him personally, but he is probably asleep as he lives in Germany, so I’ll find out more tomorrow.
I am eager to learn more.

Still, suggesting people aren’t going to use addons in Classic when Vanilla had more powerful addons than anything we have today is laughable.
There are going to be piles upon piles of addons.

OG decursive and OG healbot will not work, the newer versions will though, if someone makes a Classic version, and I think they did.
