ClassicLFG addon

90% of the classic playerbase never stepped foot in a raid. 90% of the retail playerbase does raidfinder.

the game by definition will not be the same

They had similar LFG addons in 2004 (the game was released in 04). there was no wow in 01 so no classic wow even i guess.
And in 2001 we don’t have the talents we have no , does your argument hold?

See now you are a #prochanges because you don’t even know wow Vanilla had.

The problem is that to you, it’s irrelevant. To those of us who disagree with you, it isn’t irrelevant. Automation beyond what was possible in Classic is a bit of a gray area and starts to delve into concerns about whether it’s in the spirit of vanilla.

If you were able to send a role what is stopping the addon from using it to fill the group with the proper roles?

Just the fact that it didn’t? As sophisticated as the rest of the addon is, something this simple would have been easy to implement.

First, I really don’t appreciate the personal attacks. I don’t see how they’re necessary.
Second, I did play Vanilla on a handful of different realm types and I never had any issue scrolling through or advertising for a group. That’s not to say you might have.
The point I was getting at with my question to Metro was that between a global channel, trade chat, guild chat and the meeting stone interface, there was plenty of dedicated space for group forming.
Will the channel become an incoherent, unintelligible mess with the added population? I couldn’t say, I suppose we’ll find out.
But yeah, you shouldn’t need an addon to automate and facilitate group formation. You should be out there making connections with people.

Awesome, thanks for keeping stuff like this out. Convenience can seem nice but not when it undermines the social aspect of the game which was once so important.

I made several friends while leveling this way. Most notably, a fellow hunter who was a couple levels higher and we decided one day to make a long trek to Winterspring to tame the turquoise/aqua frost sabers.

Thanks Devs, I just resubbed now!

A. I don’t believe they will break those. I give them more credit than that.

B. I never had a threat problem with any class in Vanilla.

C. This isn’t carbon copy of Vanilla. This is more about creating the right experience for the majority of the players and less about catering to addon makers.

Which is going to be populated by the 10k+ other players on your realm all spamming their groups too.

Which is why this addon was made: to make organizing LFG chat easier.

Luckily, that function will probably still work.

You literally can’t prove this.

I feel like you people are the real zoomers. This functionality was in the game without addons from BC to early WotLK, and no one ever used it with auto-invite. That video shouldn’t be shocking to anyone who played 00’s WoW.

I agree in general that the automation was too far.
Had no purpose anyway. No clue why he added it. Seemed like it was just to set people off honestly.

Addons are completely unnecessary in Vanilla/Classic especially. Many of us won’t be playing with addons whatsoever, so this is nothing but fantastic news.

There’s too many BFA heads in this thread …

I’m not sure, but Suu said it wouldn’t be possible with Classic’s API, so I just take his word for it. I don’t know much about addons at all, truthfully.
He said the role feature was basically just cosmetic so you could keep track of who is what in your group.

The main issue of the lfg addon isn’t the parsing, even though that is still a classic communication concern. It’s the other functions of it.

What happens 6 months down the line when there are only 1k-2k players spamming, and this addon removes all looking-for-group chat interaction entirely?
Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Yup. And blizz encourages us to be good community members and report violations. It’s in the CoC. Oh yea. This is going to be quite a show.

yep. people don’t realize layering masks a lot of it. once that veil drops and their channels turn into stock tickers scrolling at light speed they’ll be using addons to hide those channels or leave them altogether and use private channels just like high population realms in vanilla like mal’ganis.

Can you please give us an idea what restrictions are getting added to the API so we see what other addons might be affected?
