If that’s true, than we got a new layering problem in the making.
Unless the plan is to ban ClassicLFG when Phase 2 begins?
Did ClassicLFG cross-layers? Or was that layer-locked too?

the numbered channels (1-5) were server channels always present. user channels (word names like “world”) existed on a lot of realms. a lot of raids coordinated by using private channels for pve and pvp alike. yep they were used for addons like CTRA to sync data as well
Chat is cross layer…
like gatherer? threat meter?
Not just Disco. Bnet communities can do this as well.
Hey if they kill addon communication have fun with no threat meter…
And I “like how” people assume that sort of thing in the first place. How do you know how I or anyone else will be playing the game. I have no intention at this time in using add ons, unless they were the sort of thing that was available in Classic. I mean, why play Classic at all if you intend to play it the same way you play retail? You may as well go play retail.
And part of the problem is the automation. This is a quote directly from the designer’s description:
“The Addon automatically parses all chat messages”
And from a recent video on it that I watched, it again automatically puts you into groups.
So forget any real person social interaction, its just more of the same ol’ from retail, from what I understand of how it works. I’m really not surprised it is being stopped.
According to the descriptions page of the addon it was cross-layer.
So what exactly is getting changed? Is it still going to be able to list people looking for groups and more people for their groups? Because without it, thousands of people relying on a single chat channel might be kind of a disaster.
server channels aren’t. player channels are. /who is layer restricted as well
What? So basically people will get to use it for launch?? Wtf is that logic remove it, and remove it before launch please.
People are perverting the reason that Blizzard is breaking the addon.
It isn’t about too much functionality or #nochanges.
They were on stress tests and beta
Ok, you tell that to reddit, to twitch, twitter, and here. Tell me its just a vocal portion. If you cannot support your claims, then there is the door.
The problem isn’t that most of us are against your choice. The problem is most of us believe your choice affects others. This is a belief that the developers themselves have shared with us. Now, that may not mean they agree that this choice affects those that choose not to use it, but it means they do believe that one person’s choice can affect others regarding addons.
The “chat parser only” stuff was put to rest when a video came out showing that it could completely function with others who used the addon without using the chat whatsoever.
The fact that it had the ability to be exclusively used with others who had the addon is what got it on the Blue’s bad sides, not asmongold or whoever you want to blame. Most of us were against something like this before we even knew it was being developed.
I know what you’re talking about but unfortunately /world won’t work too well in Classic. You can still /join world, but it’s considered a community/custom channel, so some random person has admin rights over that channel and can ban anyone they want. When the channel owner logs off, the admin power gets passed to another person that’s online and then that person can just ban anyone they want from /world. It was a protected channel on pservers.
They probably don’t want to break a whole bunch of other addons that use the same hooks. I can wait. This announcement is enough to make people ditch the addon and stop downloading it.
Thank you kind sir. Well thought. Well said.
I’m talking about global channels.
Are global channels, like LFG, layer-based or multi-layer?
you are the ones making claims…
“it hurts community”
“it automates group forming”
etc…
you have yet to show that a single one of these claims is true.
A majority of the world believes in an imaginary friend that can do anything doesn’t make them right.
