I think you should remove all of the global chat channels and restrict communication to yelling into the world. I mean how is a global chat channel justified in a fantasy setting. Do we all have cell phones or something?

Ah, I doubt he’s the developer. Prove it is his go to response for most things along with is refusal to back up his claims.
Regardless, I’m pretty sure I spoke to the maker of this addon in the last stress test. He was actually a really nice person. We were just chatting about some things when he brought up the LFG addon he was making for Classic. When he started telling me how it worked I told him I was pretty sure Blizzard would break it since it automated some things. I told him he could try to ask in the forums if it would be ok to make. But I did tell him to try the customer support forums or something because I knew us Vanilla fans here wouldn’t take to his mod too kindly for Classic.
So if that person I spoke to was the maker of this addon, he really was a nice guy. He just needs to make it so it doesn’t do some of the things it does and he will be good. But this addon did not belong in Classic with the things it did.

They didn’t “misrepresent” anything and no the addon wasn’t like this one back then, they had a legitimate concern about the addon and what could spawn from it, especially based on Blizzard’s stance (that clip of Ion) on the subject validating said concerns.

Couldn’t be further from the truth, sadly.
The lack of a dedicated space for group forming is a horrible element of Classic.
For anyone to call it intentional just sounds blinded by nostalgia.
There are many things intentional about Classic, but I think its pretty obvious much of what the game is is just that way because it wasn’t finished.

I’ve never lobbied for #nochanges. In fact, I think many changes are needed and would keep in the spirit of classic. I want class balance, more difficult dungeons/raids, and no addons.
Because LFG wasn’t made global until 1.11. Its going to be global from the start here.
Not to mention, with RCR you can easily be reported for using general to find a group since there’s a dedicated chat channel for group finding.

Congratulations. You have just proven that if you cry hard enough, blizzard will cave and give you what you want.

LFG Addons existed in Vanilla. was called CTA. just because it wasn’t popular, didn’t mean it didn’t exist.
Addons talking to addons existed (dps meters). so now we’re gonna have a NON authentic Vanilla experience, because once blizzard goes back on its word and implements this change, DPS addons won’t be able to sync. Threat addons won’t either. nor will Guild calendars. all these existed in Vanilla, and Blizzard just killed em all.
addons that Automatically invited people existed too.
All the features of ClassicLFG existed in Vanilla, in separate addons. and now because someone with a speck of ingenuity threw it all together in one addon, the community (most of whom i would bet never even played vanilla to know what it was really like anyways) have formed a mob and beaten down his creation because ‘iT’s nOt aUtHeNtIc’
Worst part of this: It fixes NOTHING. Unless blizzard can implement a fix for DISCORD LFG servers, or other websites having group finding forums / threads, this doesn’t solve a thing, and only hurts addon makers.
This is a step entirely in the wrong direction. Shame on you blizzard, for making changes when you promised you wouldn’t.

pretty much. depending on the size of hammer they decide to use to break this a lot of core functionality of raiding addons will be decimated.
the vast majority of people whining don’t realize these and other addons existed since before 1.12 because they never wrote/used addons and thought the stock ui was the only way to play the game. rosy lensing fail.
CT RaidAssist (CTRA) had /rakw to invite yourself to raids, massinvite by guild rank and a lot of other functions depending on internal notes (for setting your raid team when you had multiple). all of that being broken isn’t restoring classic in the least
